I tried the BA Lite and was thoroughly delighted with the game, so much so that I swallowed the high cost for the full version. I am extremely disappointed to find that my $20, which again is extremely high for an IPad app, only gets me three additional campaigns!!!! I feel misLed and a little cheated quite frankly.
I haven't even started the full version and already want my money back!!!!!!!!

I'm also disappointed that there doesn't appear to be a straight forward method to contact Slitherine directly and am forced to use this forum which I'm not sure will ever be read

I'm sorry to hear that you feel disappointed with the game, but in the product info page it's described that you'll have access to three campaigns. I don't see how you can feel mislead:BigDaddy35 wrote:I tried the BA Lite and was thoroughly delighted with the game, so much so that I swallowed the high cost for the full version. Re: Battle Academy Costs
I think you have misunderstood
The game released on PC in 2010 for $39.99 with the 3 campaigns you see. Since then we have added additional free content and 4 premium campaigns - roughly one every 6-8 months which is how long they take to make. You get a huge amount of content for the base game but obviously if we are going to continue to develop the game we either need to charge you a subscription fee, sell some sort of in game currency or produce new high quality campaigns and charge for them. We don't like in game currencies and we don't like subscriptions so to fund the ongoign development team we have to release premium expansions.
I think you just misunderstood what you are getting. On PC it would have cost you $39.99 + 4 * $15 = $100 for the entire game and all expansions.
Once you see how much you get for your money I think you'll be changing your view!
Thanks

Re: Battle Academy Costs
Just want to jump in as a non company voice.
I think the company making games available for tablets is absolutely awesome. It's a shame I am an Android user and not an Apple droid, but I like Slitherine for going the distance to put real wargames on tablets ie REAL wargames, not the sludge that everyone and his aunt seems to be trying to sell on tablets.
20 bucks is NOT a lot of money, the thing is, a lot of the schlock on tablets is only worth a couple of bucks. And Battle Academy is not schlock. Personally, I think getting it for 20 bucks is generous considering the PC edition is twice that. And I have considered every dollar spent getting all the expansions money well spent. I have not even tried to cut costs waiting for sales. The games are solid value. Would I like it if the games cost 2 bucks each? Of course, who wouldn't. But I am also glad the games are actually worth several times more than the usual schlock on tablets too.
Slitherine Group makes specialized serious games, it's not all an Angry Birds market. And the people that make games like that, are often merely just lucky that their schlock games were successful too. I like the games, but I can assure you, making Angry Birds was a great deal easier not to mention not research requirements.
I regret you have not liked your purchase, have you played it against a human yet though? It won't shine till you take the game and give it a chance.

Re: Battle Academy Costs
You know you also get user created campaigns and there are some already waiting for download in the game and even more on the forums
Re: Battle Academy Costs
I believe this game is worth every penny, with a long single player campaign, have you looked at the user created content ranging from WW1 to the Pacific battles, a multi player that is always full of games. In fact ios needs more games of this calibre, to make it a more serious gaming platform. Give the game more time, with the 3 campaigns and different difficulty settings and achievments this is no Angry Birds. Also it's well supported by the developers with updates and expansion packs, yes it is a very high cost game on ios but what have you got to compare it with?

Re: Battle Academy Costs
I think that for 20 USD you get a lot of content. I was amazed at the amount of work that has to go into each mission as I started building my own. The newer mission editor that will come out in BA2 will still not include scripting ability (press a button, script comes into being, you enter in values ...) but MANY scripts have been replaced over the years by the editor. It remains a challenge to build missions for this game but I would not change a lot of that as the designer is free to do many different things by being able to SCRIPT the code rather than just be limited to a certain amount of scripts wired to buttons.
