(Unofficial) Britcon R&R

Post by philqw78 »

Since everybodys lists should be in today, or tomorrow if you're a bit tardy I thought I'd take my usual stab at guessing what people are going to use.

I think for early the theme this year will be Pikes, max Shooty foot and knights. Elephants add a bonus to any of the above. So here goes

Chris Proudfoot_________Later Mac
Darrell Pearce__________Early Hungarian
Dave Saunders_________Sassanid
David Finnigan_________Principate Roman

Graeme Carroll_________Kushan
Graham Briggs_________EAP
Graham Evans_________Dailami
Ivan Monedero________Early Successor
John Muir____________Seleucid
Lynda Fairhurst_______Han
Malcolm Gordon_______Spartan
Murray Evans_________Italo Norman
Peter Card___________Early Successor
Phil Powell___________Navarese
Richard Case_________Early Successor
Robert Amey_________Italo Norman
Ruben Novell_________Seleucid
Shaun Drummond_____Early Hungarian
Steven Hacker_______Alex mac
Tony Parkin_________Italo Norman
Xavier Piron_________Ptolemaic

MEDIEVAL

Alan Cutner_____________Swiss
Brian Espie_____________Iroquois
Dave Ruddock____________Serbian
David Fairhurst_________Ming
Eric Lajus______________Free Company
Eric Thomson____________later Hungarian

Have now added the later period. Theme for that this year will be Swiss, unless your name begins with "Ia" and ends with "n Stewart" then it will be the same boring old shite you take every year

And, as a caveat, I have been reliably informed (and that means not by Dave Saunders) that my predictions can be fairly arse

Since everybodys lists should be in today
I have the deadline as the 27th?

And there is no way I'd bring a Later Hungarian Army to a potentially Swiss dominated small table event. But maybe someone else will be braver than me?

And my prediction for Mr Fairhurst is Anglo-Irish. Can't believe Dave R will bring his Serbs? Will he?

The deadline is the 27th, that means before then surely. Or are you admitting to being ultra tardy Pete?

OK then Swiss, though I did warn you that the 'anal* examiner' had said my predictions weren't very good.

*meaning pedantic

And if Dave just rolls fives and sixes (as usual) he can bring what he wants

I prefer to think of it as punctual - as in neither early nor late but on time. Although as my home pc with my army list on it is currently broken Mr Ellis will be getting another apology from me. But my list still won't be late - just not quite in an ideal format. (Sorry Andy :( )

I'm afraid you are going to have to wait until the R&R's are out before I will reveal what award winning* army I will be taking to this years Britcon. Whatever I take, i have been practicing for days and since I am on holiday for a week from Saturday, my list is in and approved.

I will be giving masterclasses** all weekend on how tactics have evolved in v2***.

* at least in my mind.
** as Monsewer Powell correctly states this largely involves throwing fives and sixes on a regular basis
*** including the controversial, but highly effective tactic of allowing elephants to charge your troops in the rear

Unfortunately Simon is unwell so can't make Britcon this year.

I know you're thinking big tough armies for the medieval period Phil, but I viewed it more like "less big areas of open space as all the terrain is crowded in". So had I done that I was tempted to take Izcoatl's boys with a few fortifications for a key gap.
