Ambushes and non skirmisher battlegroups

Post by nigelemsen »

Can when a battle group is placed in the 12-18 zone from the side edge, and it is normally a battlegroup that has deploy within 10" of long be deployed beyond that point if in ambush.

Eg. Bg of 6x MF shot. I've won pbi.

Assuming in all concealing terrian, eg a wood.

Could it be placed in ambush, 18" from long edge and 13" from my short edge?

Yes- the only restrictions are that as in normal deployment, only mounted, light troops and commanded shot can be deployed in the outer 12". Assuming a 6' table then other troops could deploy between 12" and 24" In from the sides. If you have won PBI the you an deploy up to the halfway line if not, then you can deploy up to 18" in.

Remember, as you have said, this must be in terrain or a position, where the troops are not visible from within the enemy's deployment area for light troops whether or not the enemy have any!

Interestingly, there is a topic being raised on the ancient forum at the moment questioning whether if the ambush marker is in the ambush area, can troops be deployed out of this area when they are put on the table!!

This to me is "cheese" because as far as I can see it says ambushes must be in this area and the marker is just there to mark one of the bases!!!
