Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
A technical question: Anyone has data about the main gun elevation of the Maus heavy tank?

And now, going back to the sci-fi theme... Here are a good pair of big portraits for the X-Com Cyberdisk, to complete the release...

About the Armoured Train in tank mode: I'd like a direct-fire mode with increased effectiveness against adjacent enemy units along and possibly on the tracks. Just giving the small guns a flat elevation to know the difference.
Nice doc about Soviet armoured trains: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLA_2EO5SVc
Talking about elevation, the Maus tank: -7°/+23°
http://www.onwar.com/tanks/germany/data/maus.htm
http://www.wwiivehicles.com/germany/tan ... y/maus.asp
The World of Tanks Maus got: -8°/+24°. The Russian guys there possibly know best because they got a stolen copy at home.

Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
Back to a more earthly topic... Here is a re-edition of the Tiger I icon...I saw that (in my opinion) the stock game turret icon looked a little oversized (may be because of the perspective?) So, I "made" a new icon to replace the original one, based on an icon made by Metalman (a user from the DMP forums, I don't know if he is registered here) and adding some details to it.
Here's the complete unit pack, including tha base icon and mask for the DCS program.

Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
Hehehe... Thanks Horst! 23 degrees elevations are enough for me to make a switchable unit of the Maus capable of indirect fire!
I have found the data on World of Tanks... but did not consider it a reliable source. It was rather accurate, after all...
Nice idea about a direct fire variant of the armoured train icon... I will make it, no doubt!
About Soviet lend lease vehicles: The M7 priest is not present on that list...

As a derivation of the Tiger I tank, I also "made" the icon of the Tiger (P), which used the same turret... Here is the complete pack for this unit.

Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
The Tigers look beautiful, especially in camo!
The nice Tiger(P) convinced me that I'm going to implement a couple of non-purchaseable prototypes in my game as SE units and let Lady Luck decide if I get some during campaigns. But I guess the nopurchase trait wouldn't make a unit popup then. Oh well, 150% cost then to purchase.
The Maus is a rolling bunker. An indirect fire mode is clearly justified!
PS: I just noticed that you put camo on the barrel of the elite Tiger(P)s but not on the elite Tiger Is. Looks much better with a complete camo paint.

What’s also missing are tractors to pull the heaviest artillery:
German: SdKfz 9 (using an SdKfz 7 copy at moment)
GB: Scammell Pioneer
US: M4 High-Speed Tractor
Soviet: Komintern or better Voroshilovez
German: SdKfz 9 (using an SdKfz 7 copy at moment)

Soviet: Komintern or better Voroshilovez

Earlier I made some tractors for the Soviets, including the Voroshilovets, these are part of the Turan Campaign:What’s also missing are tractors to pull the heaviest artillery:

But bebro also made a very nice SdKfz9, and a Kominterm and Voroshilovets, too, these can be found in his Inferno campaign (WIP):

Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
McGuba: Thanks, your Soviet pieces are already perfect what I see from the thread. Nice to see ZiS trucks too as default transports. Soviets are definintely spoilt by too much Lend-Lease stuff in vanilla. I've already got the Horse Transport by rezaf for Germans, and your Soviet one will make a nice counterpart.
I think I've already crawled through most custom unit topics here but didn't check out all the many campaigns yet.

Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
For transports, you pretty much will find every thing in the AT and AA Mod
Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
Okay, I think I'm supplied fine enough now with transports and those nice infantry icons from McGuba's Hungarian campaign.
Guille: Brummbar_AT-desert.png has a black background. It's in your unit pack v1.02. Oh, and if you ever find the time, a Kübelwagen as recon unit, like the Willys Jeep, and as Kradschützen replacement in 43, with passengers inside, would be neat.

Horst: Nice catch... Here are the Brummbar desert icons (in direct fire and artillery modes) with correct background and improved visibility insignia.
Thanks for your feedback!
PS: The Kubelwagen is in my "to do" list, so... Stay tuned!

Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
Horst:
About the SE Tiger(P), if I am not mistaken, if you mod in a SE unit (without the nopurchase trai), it will not appear in the purchase units menu, but it will be given to as a special unit by the High Command if you are lucky.
About the camouflaged gun barrels I was experimenting about leaving them in plain color or covering them with the camo scheme... And I agree with you, the Tiger tanks look better with their gun barrels in camouflaged colours, so here are the tiger icons with the camouflaged barrels, ready for you to replace the old ones...
Thanks again for the feedback, that it is always necessary!

And last, but not least, here is the Tiger (P) in SE desert camo scheme, with the gun barrel also in camouflage.
Have fun!

Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
Thanks a lot for the quick Brummbear and Tiger fix!
I've tested dozen of times the nopurchase trait and High Command was never willed to give me that unit then. Adding Primary didn't help either. I'm pretty damn sure it won't appear after so many tries.
Doesn't matter, I've found a compromise now: I've set (P)'s cost to 150% and the availability date to 23.09.1942 when the Tiger I first saw combat near Leningrad, while Tiger I appears on 01.12.1942, its first battle in Tunesia. (P) will disappear on Tiger I's arrival then.

Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
Horst, if you want a unit to be awarded like an 'SE' unit, it will need the 'bonus' trait, the 'nopurchase' trait just means it cannot be purchased. The original game uses both these traits for the SE units, 'bonus' to make sure it can be awarded, and 'nopurchase' to prevent the player from buying SE units.Horst wrote:I've tested dozen of times the nopurchase trait and High Command was never willed to give me that unit then. Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
I know the basics, or at least I think so. The game uses the "bonus" trait alone without "nopurchase" addition to make a unit exclusively available by High Command. I saw the combination of "bonus" and "nopurchase" on the SE Lysander plane and SE Willys Jeep in the e-file and thought this possibly makes a unit only obtainable by High Command without a chance to actually upgrade an SE unit to this unit. This possibly would only work if you got an SE slot free.
After my tests, it looks like this "bonus" and "nopurchase" combo was only used to put these SE units manually onto a map by the designer in AC.
I guess a special "prototype" trait would be in order for an extra unit to pop up by chance during its availability time, that is otherwise not obtainable by purchase screen. Or you script a specific map to make it appear by chance if such random factor is possible, of course, but that's what I want to avoid. I'd like such chance rather by default during campaigns.
I hope you could follow me in this summer heat.
