I have to say, this comment via tweet has likely surprised me the most.
Strategic Command 3 will be published by Slitherine/Matrix, Lordz are assisting them with media, will be cool game.
I recall when Strategic Command was just about the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Then I personally think they drove a spike into the games brain when they turned it into a tile abomination. And I have not really cared what they did to make expansions for it since. That coupled with what I consider to be wargaming's crappiest of 'protections' in the hobby.
That SC3 might be coming to Slitherine Group is rather out of the blue.
That it being here will mean it will be sold the Slitherine way is encouraging.
That Lordz will be involved is very encouraging.
Now if I can just get my hexes back.....

Re: Of all the comments from Historicon.....
Hmm ok I can see that it is the weekend, the guys are likely exhausted, and all that , but, I have seen nothing of this snippet comment anywhere else.
There is all sorts of talk of all sorts of games that are in the works and all manner of discussions of all manner of games and news from developers.
But this news item seems to be absent from anywhere else.
Is there anything to this news item? Or was it a leak that shouldn't have leaked?
Over at Battlefront, there is no talk I can find of even mention of SC3 (which seemed simultaneously odd and then again not considering that is normal over there).

Aaaaah man missed the second link and the second string of images
It has hexes
Thank goodness, I have not had the slightest interest in SC2 anyname as the view hurts my eyes when not hurting my brain. No idea how Hubert managed to milk it as long as he did.
But the tiles being gone, well I am so on board with that.
I still think SC the original was some of the most inspired wargaming since Third Reich (ok technically I have always preferred A3R). Only marred by the most deplorable human to human file security ever known to wargaming.
Then there's the matter of the publisher (I would like to say all manner of things that my host Slitherine Group would likely prefer I didn't say though).
Then there is the copy protection process which has ensured I have not had the slightest urge to buy anything via that publisher.
I welcome a chance to get the correct successor to SC, and released by a publisher of my choosing.
Frankly, SC2 and the second Highlander film have a lot in common as I see it. I am willing to assume both never happened.

Hi Guys
Yes it was announced at our press Conference that Fury Software has singed with us for Strategic Command 3, they will be supported by a new initiative that we announced at the Press conference the creation of Lordz Media Limited. This is a new joint venture company between us and the Lordz Game studio created for the SOLE PURPOSE of supporting our developers with all of the creative assets that the may require to take their games to the next level. Lordz will continue to make their own great games and remain a separate company.
This one is looking very nice
Regards

Re: Of all the comments from Historicon.....
Soooooo I suppose the next question is, what does this mean with regards to the obvious. Has Hubert elected to pick up his marbles and come play in the Slitherine Group pond?
He's been fairly active even recently with his SC2 designs at Battlefront. But people come and people go. John Tiller for instance took his marbles and left HPS. It happens.
No point asking at Battlefront though, I've never known them to like talking about non company topics. I was surprised just to see a comment in a thread over there in the SC WW1 forum.

Hmm a quick peek and and a walk around the internet and at Matrix Games, and it appears most of what I am pondering is coming to pass.
Patience isn't a virtue, its a skill
I still play SC periodically, but, it has sucked waiting all this time for the stain that is SC2 to finally get painted over like the horrible looking wallpaper left from the previous occupant it is.
I don't know what prompted Hubert to go back to hexes and I don't care
Now I just need to sit and wait a while more till the inevitable forums are sorted out for SC3. At least I already have a chair
