Why Stug III is better than Stug IV and JadgPanzer IV?
Well, the title says is all, all three are quite comparable but Stug III seems to be the best. I'm looking at technical description of them all and I don't see the reason...

If I remember correctly the Jadgpanzer IV got lost in the balancing act.
There was no way to change it without making it the same as another unit.
I always think about this unit and how I can improve it. I just though of an idea, perhaps limit the purchase of a similar unit so you end up only being able to buy the Jag IV. I will have to re-think about this. Right now, I am using the camo trait on the Hetzer to make it a worth while purchase late in the war. However, the camo trait is not working as intended. The camo trait makes the unit invisable all the time!!!
I don't remember the Stug III and IV. There is difference in the AT and AA Mod.
One thing the stock Stug IV has is the switch to artillery.

Oh, indeed, stug IV is an interesting choice this way. Pity you don't know about it until you buy it (and other stugs switchable to artillery are placed in artillery section so it's doubly confusing)Razz1 wrote:If I remember correctly the Jadgpanzer IV got lost in the balancing act.

I answered your question about Time of Fury. If you need any help in any area I can help you with that game too.

It may be a sound decision for balance, as most soviet self-propelled artillery serves as tank destroyer as well. But I really can't get over that. StuG III no artillery mode, StuH42 range 1, StuG IV range 2... hum!Borsook wrote:Oh, indeed, stug IV is an interesting choice this way. It's also a reminder about possible improvements to Panzer Corps: You must indeed know that the StuG IV can switch to artillery mode, nothing tells you that it has this option. The same applies for other units with the artillery switch option.

Re: Why Stug III is better than Stug IV and JadgPanzer IV?
Hello, I was wondering if there was another Anti-Tank / ranged Artillery unit like the Stug IV in the German equipment database? I enjoy the 2+ ranges of the Stug IV and the captured Russian Su-122s so much that I used them right until the end of the war, but I can never seem to either upgrade the right AT unit and find an appropriate situation in combat to test it (and I don't want to spend the prestige to find out!).
I did take a look through the forum search functions, but nothing seemed to hit upon any other German unit than the Stug IV. Any feedback, including that it's wishful thinking on my part, would be greatly appreciated.

Save during the deploy phase, buy it and deploy it, start turn 1 and you can check if it can swap roles then reload back to deploy. Annoying I know but can be handy.

Hello Scholomancer, there are only a few switchable units, the StuG IV, the 88mm Flak (anti-air) gun, and the StuH 42, which is in the artillery section. The StuH 42 only has range 1 however, so it's probably not what you are looking for. I personally like to use the StuG IV a lot as well, it's a very good unit for the price.Scholomancer wrote:Hello, I was wondering if there was another Anti-Tank / ranged Artillery unit like the Stug IV in the German equipment database? A while ago I made a large image showing all (in-family) upgrade paths and approximate availability dates for the German units, it also shows which units are switchable: http://www.sendspace.com/file/gauu59

Wow.. that is extremely helpful and informative! I also did what CrimsonStorm suggested with no luck, but now I can stop thinking about trying to find upgrades to the Stug IV. Thank you!ThvN wrote:Hello Scholomancer, there are only a few switchable units, the StuG IV, the 88mm Flak (anti-air) gun, and the StuH 42, which is in the artillery section. Thanks for the excellent diagram ThvN!

One of the nice features of the StuG IV is that you can buy a totally green unit, use it as an artillery piece to rapidly and cheaply build experience, and later upgrade it to a multi-star Jagdpanther or Jagdtiger when you need some additional armor, and replace the StuG IV with another one or some other artillery piece.
