problem with across the rhine scenario

Post by dan456 »

I have played the across the Rhine scenario twice and was unable to get a Triumph victory. I have captured all the flags and German areas and the scenario will only end with a Victory on the last move day. how do I fix this?

Hello, dan456, welcome to the forums. This scenario has a very strange condition for a 'Triumph': you must neutralize at least ten axis flags. This is mentioned in the briefing, it means you actually have to use strategic bombers to bomb axis flags, this can cause them to become 'neutralized' until they are re-captured. I'm not sure if you know that using a strategic bomber to attack a city/airport hex has a chance of turning the flag grey (neutral)? Well, this is the only way to achieve that in this scenario, and even if they are neutralized only briefly it counts towards the total.

You are supposed to receive a message (and some bonus prestige) when you have succeeded, as a reminder. To be honest, it doesn't matter for the campaign if you achieve a 'Victory' or 'Triumph' here, the prestige you get is the same, as is the follow-on scenario.

Again, hello and welcome. ThvN explained it well but I'll add I do think there is a slight bug in that even neutralizing enough flags, I have not received a notice (message) or bonus, and sometimes even got a 'Victory' and not a 'Triumph' (I even kept hand score to check). But don't sweat it as it does not matter as he said.
