As you can see this has been an epic battle. Once that Casino falls I suspect I will be counter attacked by mainly Volksgrenadiers from the Hotel. Other than that its smooth sailing for the Allies.

10 turns left we both lose something of value. I lose my scouts to Volksgrenadiers and an Airstrike near the Radar Station :(. But a squad of engineers infiltrates the Cheateu and destroys a 152MM from behind :D now we wait for the Sniper to get in place and the final assault will begin...

Zero Hour Aprroches on turn 7. Next. Turn the final Allied Sorties will be placed and the assault will begin. The Highlanders move forward to capture a building in order to scout from but Germans zero in on them with MG 42's.... They didnt make it  but the Royal Marines are now in position and sniper watch the Casino from afar..... Enginners ordered to capture the Cheateu experince no Resistance and destroy the 152MM guarding the back door of the Casino. They now stealthily move an long the beach and prepare to knock down the Front Door 8) Meanwhile while on the other side of town Montreal Fusaliers supported by Royal Marines prepare to assault the Radar Station held by Volksgrenadiers. But the Lutwaffe has been quiet..... Too quiet my opponent knows that when the final assault comes the Lutwaffe will deal massive damage..... I have a small window of time to get my forces into the Casino but will the Lutwaffe stop me or will this final push secure victory for the Canadians?

PLEASE NOTE that I just made this file and its mainly casualties reports. I will update regulaly with more intresting photos with my many battles. https://www.dropbox.com/home/The%20Dieppe%20Chronicles (I named it the Dieppe Chronicles)

The Assault begin as the RAF knock out his MG 42  some German Infantry hide near the VP and I out flank them via the beach itself! At the Radar station I encounter no resistance so that means he pulled back further into the complex....

The Assault has made incredible Progress on turn 5! The Germans launch their final Bomber Strike at the Cheateu only that I had abondoned it a long time ago. The engineers make incredible progress and eliminate an MG 42 and encounter a 152MM. With this the Royal Marines infiltrate the Casino and prepare to dislodge the remaining Germans. On the other side of Dieppe the Royal Marines and Motreal Fusiliers find and suppress the Volksgrenadiers guarding the entrance. The end is near and both Objectives will be captured by the end of the game. I took a great screenshot of the battle go to my Dropbox to see it

4 turns remaining and the battle for the Casino and the Radar Station have gotten desperate. His JU 87's miss the Royal Marines and they infiltrate and kill an Infantry squad. My engineers take enormous casualties at the main entrance when his troops from the hotel arrive. I destroy the 152MM Gun at the entrance. At the Casino the Montreal Fusiliers encontre more Volksgrenadiers but rout them with support from the Royal Marines. Turn 3 will prove to be the most vital part of the operation. Will the reniforments destroy my men at the casino or will we prevail and finally end this bloody battle?
NOTE I'm updating the Dieppe Chronicles and removing lots of garbage so you don't have to shuffle through it.

3 turns left..... And we have done what many have said impossible. The German Commander seeks to pursue my engineers instead of reinforcing the Casino. The Royal Marines Capture it and save the Enginners by laying down fire on the Germans Chasing them. An Artillery Strike near the Radar Station fails to rout my men and they are merely mopping up any remaining Volksgrenadiers in the area. With 2 Turns Remaing it's still unknown where the reniforments went off to. My guess is they Plan one final assault to retake the Casino. From the tobacco factory....

Sounds like you've got quite a battle going on there, LM!

Am looking for your screenshots, but your Dropbox link asks for a username and password. Can you put your pics into a Dropbox\Public folder? We can see there without the password...

2 turns left. My B-17s bomb the crap put of the Hotel. At the Casino he doesn't commit an assault. He lays down MG 42's on the Marines but that's about it. An FW-190 kills my brave fusiliers  RIP. but other than that I'm forced to scarification my brave engineers who without them there is no way I would have taken the Casino. RIP. and finally I take the Radar Station once and for all. I have captured all my objectives expect the Hotel. Gottalove88's please put me next to your name on the Grand Victors of Dieppe 8) (A good game to Agositino626 for putting up one hell of a fight until the very end)

Final Turn. Nothing other than my final air strikes. The Royal Marines search the Casino and the Radar Station for some drinks to celebrate their final Victory. 8)

A new battle. Now I can't show the photos just yet (Dropbox problem almost fixed) but THIS one will be good 8) right now I'm up against Morge and he has already landed most of the assault force. He has Captured the Cheateu and he is launching an Assault against the Casino. I have some great photos of the battle but I can't risk letting him see them or else he will have the intel he needs :(

Unfortunately Mobile Dropbox does not allow you to share with others :( ill try to make it private then post a password here. Hopefully it will work. If not I'm going to have to visit the local library :| after some digging until I can get my hands on a PC the only way for you to enter my library is if I invite you via email. And I don't think anyone here trusts me with their email though :?

The epic game is over :( Allies 7 out of 8 VPs. Axis 1 out of 8 (The Hotel) my opponent and I bid each other farewell and went our separate ways. The end game screen and overall casualties. As you can see both of us have suffered quite a bit and I have to say this has been one of the most Brutal Battles I have ever fought in Battle Academy. This is equal to the battle me and Cavehobbit had at Crisot! And that one was extremely brutal as well. But this is not the end of the "Dieppe Chronicles" another battle is at play and this time it's against a well trained foe..... Morge and I are going to have fun

Man the thing you can find on Wikipedia.... According to the page it states that had the Dieppe Raid been successful there would have been a full scale invasion!? Aimed at Cherbourg or Brest the Allies would land in early autumn and hold our until Spring 1943. They would then try to break out but with that much time of just repelling German Attacks there would already be a strong line of defenses at the exit of the peninsula. Long story short the plan had too many holes to plug and after Dieppe it was forgotten and the Allies then focused on the Italy and the Balkans. Here's the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Sledgehammer

Am moving 'office' to Portsmouth (home of the Royal Navy, Nelson's HMS Victory, the D-Day museum, the Royal Marines museum, etc) and accidentally discovered a whole load of new information on Dieppe...

Like...

* The catalyst for Dieppe came from Naval Intelligence... not the Army or the RAF...

* Commander Fleming RN (aka Ian Fleming, the author of the James Bond series) was largely responsible for persuading the Admiralty to make Dieppe the target for Operation Jubilee... Fleming was waiting onboard HMS Fernie, less than half a mile off Dieppe on August 19th, hoping to personally carry a stash of intelligence 'booty' back to London -> http://www.007.info/new-theory-about-fl ... eppe-role/

* A specially formed naval intel assault unit (30 IAU) was setup to conduct this 'pinch' (hidden under the umbrella of 40 RM Commando) -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No._30_Commando

* Commander 'Red' Ryder VC RN (leader of the St Nazaire raid) was present at Dieppe, to lead 30 AU directly into Dieppe's main harbour (but despite several near suicidal attempts to achieve this, his shallow draft gunboat HMS Locust was beaten back by the German's persistently heavy coastal gunfire) -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Locust_(T28)

* The key objective for 30 IAU, where Ryder & Fleming expected to find the (at the time) uncrackable four-rotor Enigma cypher machines, was the Hotel Moderne (aka German Naval Headquarters) on rue Vauquelin at the harbour

* The objective of the Essex Scottish, supported by Churchill tanks, was to target trawlers in the harbour, to gather German signals and code books. Indeed more than half of the 6,000 troops deployed to Dieppe had orders to join up in the harbour prior to exfiltration

* There's a previously classified, now publicly available, detailed analysis on the topography and enemy positions -> http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.u ... ri=C170354 (I guess that I need to get myself back up to the National Archives at Kew)

New realistic Royal Navy destroyer models
New Vorpostenboot and Ubootjager models (so it's now visually obvious why attacking a destroyer with one of these is lunacy)
Rebalanced AP and bombard powers for warships and coastal guns (to create more of a gun battle; although LCTs and DUKWs remain highly vulnerable)

It's been awhile since I've played Dieppe... What else is needed?
