Why Wait on Slitherine

Post by bensand88 »

Dont' get me wrong, I love Slitherine and I understand they have to focus on revenue producing activities. But, as I understand it, all the work on CEAW 3.0 is done and we are waiting on an installer. I know that many were able to acquire and load 2.1 directly from you fine folks that did the coding. I got my download from a direct link for the Mac version and it's worked wonderfully. Any reason we can't just have a link to a download and get going?

Sorry for being impatient. But it is hard to start a new 2.1 game when you know 3.0 should be out soon. Tick tock, tick tock... my biological clock is driving me crazy! :D

Slitherine can make an installer so people can install GS v3.0 without having to unzip a file and place files manually. That is preferable for most players. Just start the installer and let it do the rest. The beta testers got ZIP files and had to know where to place the different files.

The installer is quite big (500 MB size). You need a host for such a file. The host also has to allow many downloads. Slitherine offer that too. They have their own servers who can host files.

Slitherine has a WEB site who can have info about GS v3.0 and a download link. That makes the availability of GS v3.0 much better.

So without Slitherine we could not have been able to offer GS v3.0 to everybody.

Sorry for the delay guys - we've been hit by numerous things such as the number of recent releases, holiday, time of sick and our press event in the US next week which everyone is preparing for.

We will get to this as soon as we can and it is now being worked on but I don't have a firm ETA yet.

One problem with releasing it without the installer is that it makes life more complex in future if there is a GS4, if there is an installed and uninstalled version we have to be able to work with both. The reason its so complex to do already is the number of different versions of CEAW and GS out there we have to be compatible with.

Thanks for you patience!

Hi Iain :

Thank you very much for your explaination ! & we do know Slitherine will try his best to move it forward ! But Since the new 3.0 version will not be avaliable for our present GS 2.1 games , is it possible to just give us a rough time of 3.0's launch so that we can know whether we should start a new game or just wait for the 3.0 . :)

Thanks again for your information !
