Mixed Battle Group Question

Hey all hoping someone here could help with another query.

A situation arose in a game the other week which has never come up before and I haven't been able to find an answer in the rules forum. A mixed 6 stand battle group of 4 heavy foot stands and 2 light foot stands was supporting 2 battle groups to their front of 10 stands of heavy foot. One player raised the question of does the light foot count for battle group size in this instance as skirmish units can't support? A reread of the rules says that a skirmish battle group can't support but nothing about light foot in a mixed battle group. We thought it was ok but remained a little uncertain.

I think you played it right.

To provide support you need 'non-skirmishers' - page 143.

Page 18 confirms that a mixed BG including light foot are non-skirmishers.

Thanks for the clarification, just wasn't sure if the "skirmish" light foot bases counted or not. I think this was another case of the more we discussed it the more we convinced ourselves there must be something there that wasn't, the rules have always been pretty clear for us.
