Stoke Challenge - UK Fog R Comp 14th JULY 2013

Post by kevinj »

Once again I'm responsible for Fog R at the Stoke Challenge. The Details for this are:

Stoke Challenge Website:
http://stoke-challenge.blogspot.co.uk/p/home.html

Venue:
Territorial Army Centre (02 Field Hospitial (V))
Waterloo Road
Cobridge
Stoke on Trent
Staffordshire
ST6 3HJ

The format for this competition will be FoG R (plus any official errata published before 30th June) , 650pts on 5 by 3 foot tables. Any army from any official Fog R army list book may be used.

Cost £8 per player

Game duration is 2 hrs 30mins per game (+/- 10 Mins), players complete current phase on the call of time by the umpire.
The Compulsory terrain feature must be placed on the table, plus 2 to 3 pieces per player. Deployment as per the normal rules.

Registration 8:45-9:15am

Game 1- 9:30-12 noon

Then.... lunch and shopping at trade stands (this can be shorter if players want to finish earlier)

Game 2- 13:00-15:30pm

Game 3- 15:45 until 18:15

Prize giving asap following that final game.

Last year we had a small but select group, it would be great to expand on that this year. Details of entrants to me (PM me for email or postal address if you don't have it).

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

What is the size of the flank zones and also the baseline zone - I assume from your description that the Flanks are still 12", Baseline TZ is still 6" and deploy 10" in.

Is that correct (makes for a very narrow table for a foot army!)?

We've done this before with standard size zones and no real problems. A big bit of terrain can help here.

Just a gentle reminder that this is just over 6 weeks away. I've had a trickle of entries but there's room for more.

I've been asked to show how the sectors work on this sized table, so here it is:

Image

This is the same setup that we used for the Games Expo, I think it works well on this size. Specifically:

1) Each player's compulsory terrain piece will be placed, as near to legally as possible.
2) Players may have only 2-3 rather than 2-4 additional pieces.
3) The flank deployment area is reduced to 10" which is the proportionate size compared to a 6' wide table.

There's still time to enter, please PM/email me if you're interested.

Actually terrain was 1 compulsory + 1-3 optional at Expo not 2-3 optional, gives the Cavalry commanders a chance to reduce the terrain.
