Friendly Minefield Movement Cost?
Playing Crusader, I was surprised to see the Italians move through their own minefield. Thinking about it, I realized that I should not have assumed that minefields would be perfectly symmetrical. But I still don't know what the rules are, exactly. What is the movement cost for moving through a "friendly" minefield hex?

Many thanks for the speedy reply!

Re: Friendly Minefield Movement Cost?
Mine fields are usually layed out in a pattern that has traverse lanes in them. Friendly forces are provided with maps by S2 (I believe?) that show those lanes. That way friendly forces are not hindered by mine fields while the fields are still effective against hostiles since they don't know what the pattern is.
Re: Friendly Minefield Movement Cost?
Actually, there IS a movement penalty for crossing your own side's minefields.
It takes an additional +1 movement for an Axis unit to cross over an Axis minefield. This is a good representation that while your forces should clearly not be blocked by your own minefields entirely, you still have to maneuver through the terrain carefully.

That makes sense, and it squares with what I observed. Thanks again for the information!

Makes sense, after all as I mentioned you have to study the maps and traverse on given paths, that certainly prevents easy movement and should have a slight penalty.Kerensky wrote:Actually, there IS a movement penalty for crossing your own side's minefields.
