on picture page 53: If D is out of range the Infantry can fire with one support die on unit C. Will the infantry have one support die on E as well?

The section covering this is on page 51 under 'Supporting Fire'.

I would interpet the answer to your question as "no" because supporting fire is in aid of another units shooting only. There is no friendly unit shooting at E therefore there is no unit for the infantry to support and hence it wouldn't add a support dice against E.

However, I'm not sure whether a unit can add support dice twice. For example, if there was a friendly unit shooting at E also, then could the infantry add 1 support dice to the shooting against both C and E ? The section on page 51 strongly implies that each unit can add only a sinlge support dice in the last 2 sentences of the section, the very 1st para states 'against A target unit' and the start of the 2nd para says 'if it has no other target'; so maybe not.

I believe the "no other target" refers to the fact that a supporting unit can not be shooting itself. So if a unit had target E to its front and within range it could not add support dice.

Check page 51 second column top of page,"If more than one support target is within range, it will add its fire against the nearest target. The firing player chooses the target if 2 are equidistant"
Sounds to me like you can only support 1 target at a time
