Allied Corps AAR: Battle of Girba

Post by okiemcguire »

Allied Corps Battle of Girba

This is scenario three. You will encounter your first armored action. It will mainly be light tanks backed by a rather passive infantry and artillery up the road.

Here is the Mission followed by the Victory Conditions:

For this scenario, I purchased another Cruiser I and a 25 Pounder w/Quad transport.

Again, I will be advancing with mainly two mixed forces. On the East side of the road, I will be advancing with an Cruiser I, Vickers VI, AT, and 25 pounder Artillery. A Recon will flank the advance on the right for spotting and handling any enemy flanking manuevers. On the West side, I will be advancing with Infantry, 2 x Cruiser I, and a 25 pounder Artillery. Another Recon will flank the advance on the left for spotting and handling any enemy flanking manuevers.

In turn 1, we move forward and position our forces to encounter the incoming light tanks.

Turn 2

The Italians attack with several Light Tanks w/5 Strength. Our West side Recon is able to stop the flanking manuever.

Image

By the end of the Allies turn, we were able destroy 2 tanks and heavily damage two others.

Image

Turn 3

The Italians, failing to breach our defensive positions on the West side, attack our East forces with several Light Tanks w/6 Strength.

Image

Again, their efforts are dashed as the East forces destroy two of three tanks and heavily damaged the third. The West forces destroy the two tanks that were heavily damaged earlier. We will use the remaining turn and turn 4 to consolidate our forces and resupply.

Image

Turn 5

We get a message from HQ to push up the road.

Image

Using the Recons as spotters, we push up the road looking for the remaining enemy forces.

Image

What will we encounter? Have we defeated all of their armor? Look for further action to be recorded...

As ordered, we continued pushing the forces up the road. It is not until Turn 7 that the recons spot the enemy. We see that artillery is backing two of the infantry. The infantry out front is just waiting for us to attack. We position our forces for the next turn.

Image

In turn 8, the Italians send out one light tank to encounter my forces. We easily destroy the tank and the leading infantry. We then move the Recons around the flanks to weaken the artillery, while advancing our forces.

Image

Turn 9, the Recons destroy the enemy's forward artillery and the East forces destroy one of the infantry positions. The West force attacks with artillery, tanks, and infantry...but the Italian infantry is tough but weakend. I continue to push forward.

Image

Turn 10-12

We are able to destroy one of the artilleries and heavily damage the last one. They move up one of their light tanks to delay our advance.

Image

We continue to push the attack, detroying their remaining tanks and artillery.

All that is left are the infantry.. we destroy them and meet the Triumph conditions.

We get a "Well done indeed!" message from HQ.
