Beta 3,
FM using only strength 10 units, most challenging scenario so far, and fun and tense too.

I've suffered a massive 42 hits instead of an average of 10-12 so far, yet no unit eliminated. For the first time in the campaign I used in scenario replacement, it was for one of my fighter who was badly mauled by a BF109, it happened so early in the scenario, that I feared another germans fighter come to finish my plane.

It's fairly easy to detroy the first wave, but afterward it is difficult to cover all approaches, and finally a number of enemy units make it inland. their 200 xp make it very hard to get loss free attack. even my cruisers tanks were hurt by the motorcycle boys :(
The auxiliarry units help a lot.

I noticed that the Germans landing ships where no to smart, when I saw a landing ships next to the coastline I tried to put one of my unit in every landing hex. Many times (not all) the ships didn't try to move sideways to find a free landing spot, but stayed in front of my units until destroyed.

As another user already said: it seems a bit to easy to get rid of the germans, compared to history. Compared to the previous scenarios, it's getting harder .. but very slowly. Biggest problem is anticipating, where the next attack will take place. I've been lucky to concentrate on the western part of Crete.

- Reinforcing defenders with them getting suppressed may be realistic, but it gives them a really hard time, especially those greek troops in Kastelli.
- Sinking transports with the Stirling is as easy as shooting down Ju52s with Hurricanes. Guess they should have at least a little bit of an escort. Perhaps 2 italian fighters on 5 strength, giving the player not to much trouble but enabling some more troops to land?
- Coordination of airborne, naval landing and another airborne is critically to give players time to regroup. With sufficient airpower, it is almost easy the way it is right now, others may have a hard time?

Liked it a lot. DV @ 12/18

Beta 4
Standalone scenario
Leutnant level

Too easy!
I nearly ran out of prestige but only at the last turns.
I liked the constant counter-attacks but they were lacking of "punch". Maybe I should try at Colonel level.
I liked the arrival of German mountain troops by glider.
Ju 52s without escorts, Stirling can destroy ships unescorted without the fear of any attack.
Why not having as fighters one Spitfire and one Hurricane instead of two Spits ?
Historically weren't there Hurricanes in Crete ?
Greek units were really weak, even the mountain unit in the eastern part of the map.
I also expected more German units landing by ships.

This might be a general issue and not specific to this scenario but I noticed that if I had a ground unit positioned in the same hex (underneath) as an enemy paratrooper (aboard an aircraft) the enemy aircraft would never move nor would the paratrooper jump. They would just wait there, patiently, until I could bring in a fighter to destroy them. I was expecting the enemy aircraft to move to an unoccupied hex or allow the paratrooper, starting in an occupied hex, to jump anyway but never land in an occupied hex.

Near total incompetence by AI German air units--unescorted Stuka and paratroops easily slaughtered. Not quite a turkey shoot but almost. The Germans won in the battle of Crete.
