One of the things I was most looking forward to when Allied Corps was announced was being able to create crazy cores with all sorts of different nationalities. I was fairly disappointed to find out that you can have only British/Americans (though it is nice that you can have them both at the same time). If nothing else, I think that we should have at least been able to have Canadian troops since they played an extremely important role in the war, and then beyond that, Free French and Australians were important too. I realize it would take some extra work since they would have to have their own hero pictures, and medals, but I think it would have allowed for a lot more core diversity and overall flavor.
My only other disappointment was the lack of any new German units. I realize this expansion is focused on the Allies, but it would have been ridiculously cool to see a Panther II boss unit in one of the later units. It also would have been a great opportunity to create an official Volksturm unit, considering they made up a lot of the troops on the Western front in '45. We should see horse transport too, given Germany's fuel shortages at this point.
Anyone else feel the same?

Re: Did Anyone Else Want Other Nationalities in Their Core?
I'm sorry, I do not feel quite the same.
It is easy to add the Canadians as a third party core force. I am all for it. However, they would need to add quite a few units like I have done in the AT and AA mod with thanks to DMP and the community for icons.
I, myself would vote for horse transports above adding any new German units as horse transports. It really gives the game strategic depth. But then again, allot of the old maps would have to change their transports to horse. I don't think they want to go back to several maps and change them.
So I am very close to feeling the same.

Being American, it's not as big an issue to me, but I bet it would make some Canadian and Australian and other players very happy to have "their" soldiers in the game.monkspider wrote:One of the things I was most looking forward to when Allied Corps was announced was being able to create crazy cores with all sorts of different nationalities. I don't think I'd ever want to see a sci-fi style unit like the Panther II in a Panzer Corps campaign. Maybe put it in the editor so we can gin up some "what if" scenarios, but otherwise, no.
I would definitely want Volkssturm - I was disappointed when they weren't available in any of the Grand Campaign DLCs.

I'd love to play as the Canadians, eh?
There is no such thing as "overkill". There is only "keep firing" and "time to reload".

I realise effectively it would only be renaming, but it would be nice to have the option of a limited number of units from any of the major colonies.

A compromise: Commonwealth Troops.
Since a majority of the different nations under the Commonwealth (Canada, South Africa, India, Australia, New Zealand,)used British Equipment, and of course US equipment as well, just put them under Commonwealth Troops. What do you guys think? Unique units from each Commonwealth member would be rewards as SE units, such as a particular Canadian Firefly, or India Gurkhas, etc.

Hi there Praetorreich36.
Sorry, but there is no way I want New Zealand troops classifying along with South Africans! Perish the thought mate. Obviously no rugby fans amongst you or you wouldn't even consider this blasphemy!
Gurkhas sounds like a great idea though.
Seriously, New Zealand is proud of it's troops and I would love just to have ONE infantry unit in my core, then we can do a Maori Haka before battle and frighten several prestige points out of the enemy!
The Canadians also made a major effort in the allied campaign and it is good to see them represented quite often as aux units. Adds some nice variety so why not have them in the core?
Maybe I missed the chance to add Aus/NZ troops while in the desert campaign where I think they were selectable?
