Saved games?

Post by spedius01 »

Hi there,

Can you create a variety of sub-directories to store your saved games in? I looked at the directory "Saved Games" through windows explorer and noted that they were named, save_0_.dat to save_29_.dat, even though I had given them different names when I originally saved them.

I would like to experiment with a variety of ideas and subsequently save the games in specific directories.

What would you suggest I should do? Can I do anything?

Please give me the benefit of your advice.

Currently there is no way to change the directory, though there is no limit to how many saved games you can have. I guess it could get cluttered if you've got too many, but I'm not clear what it is you're trying to do?

Hi Ian,

You know the directory tree structure?

Main Directory - Sub Directory...-.. Sub Directory

Saved Games - Saved Games01 - Saved Games02

This way you can have specific groupings, by name, in your sub directories.

Here's an idea!!!

Move all of the current saved games, yours only (not the game generated saves), out of Arena completely and put

them into a "Arena Saves" directory. Then you'll know that the only saved games you can load are the current ones.

When you've finished that particular segment, you can move these saves out into another directory "Arena Saves 02".

Then, when you want them, you can move the original saves back into the Arena Saved Games directory again.

What do you think, it could work?

PS. Yours only would be, Save_0_.dat to Save_29_.dat.

Sorry - I'm still not clear what you're trying to achieve :) Why do you want some games in one directory & others in another? Games are all time stamped so you can see the most recent one sorted to the top of the list and the game defaults to loading up where you left off last time you played.

Adding a directory selection to the load/save menu would actually be a fair bit of work. The time consuming bit is the user interface - showing which dir are you in, adding controls to move up and down dir's etc. There is nothign like this currently so it would all have to be specially coded.

Hi Ian,

I'm not advocating any changes to Legion Arena.

Try not to think about the actual game itself, think outside the box.

Legion Arena is currently installed on my 'C' (hard) drive.

If you look for Legion Arena with windows explorer, you will find it in Program Files, BlackBean, LegionArena.

Now if you look at the sub-directories in LegionArena you will find Save Games.

If you look in Save Games you will see a number of files, some of which are save_0_.dat, and, in my case the highest

in this sequence is save_29_.dat. This represents all of my saved games, games saved by me.

As you mentioned in the manual, "the menu is getting cluttered with old saved games", an alternative to deleting them

is to move them. That way, if you ever want to see those games again, just move them back.

If you follow the steps I've mentioned before this is quite simple.

If you still don't follow me, I'd be happy to explain the idea on the phone.

PS. It does work, I've tried it. Why don't you?

Hi ste,

I saw that, but how do insert an Emoticon into the body of your text? I've tried copying and pasting, didn't work.

I note that when you put your cursor over them your cursor changes into a hand, and the tool tip tells you what that

Emoticon represents.

They are done with javascript... if you don't allow that then you won't be able to insert the smilies. You can always use the tags themselves i think
