Re: Allied: Border Raids
Finished the scenario. DV turn 7, FM. Nothing special to report.
I am clearly not the best judge, but I am not sure that a scenario so simple will really help the player to understand what he is playing. It is strange to have such a scenario without a real combat. Perhaps you could add slow moving enemy units that should be avoided...

Re: Allied: Border Raids
This is by far the easiest scenario ever. Great learning tool for those who have not played before and simple stuff for those of us who have.
Re: Allied: Border Raids
I've played that scenario several times at different difficulty level (colonel, general and field marshal) but something is strange about the winning prestige.
Common stats: DV 6/12 turns scenario prestige: 200 pp (start) + 100 pp (Italian depot) = 300 pp (total)
But mission prestige (+victory bonus)
at colonel level : 737 pp
at general level : 955 pp
at field marshall level: 955 pp

Re: Allied: Border Raids
maho1973, good catch, that is very strange indeed... I just played Border Raids on the 5 difficulty levels, and it is like you described.
Border Raids 'Triumph' reward (600 according to campaign.pzdat):
Sergeant: 106
Lieutenant: 259
Colonel: 437
General: 655
FM: 655
Note that on Sergeant, it should be 200% prestige income, and on Lieutenant 150%, and for the starting prestige + the reward for destroying the supply dump this works correctly.

Thanks for making me part of the beta team once again! Not much to this scenario, but it is a good intro. One thing I never liked about Allied campaigns in the past is that they start you off right in the heat of the action in North Africa or Italy, I am glad you are giving the player an easy scenario to get into the swing of things.

Re: Allied: Border Raids
Hi all, as mentioned on all posts above very easy scenario. What I think it could be improved is giving the Italian trucks a higher line of sight so they don't get ambushed by the Brits every turn. On first sight you can see they all head from East to West, so if you set your forces accordingly the Italian trucks will bump into your forces almost every turn. Maybe this could mean having to create another kind of unit, if the same trucks are used in another scenarios. I haven't tried the beta2, how about making the understrength Italian unit a scout one which could help avoid the problem mentioned?

1) Border Raids - Beta 2
Level: Colonel, All Game settings checked
Prestige Begin: 200 End: 300
Result: Triumph 7/12
Received 100pp for destroying the supply dump
First, thanks for including me in to this Beta Test beginning in Beta 2.
General Impressions/Comments:
I am a believer in regression testing (making sure that the old capabilities work as well).
So, prior to this first scenario I wanted to report that I had no issues with the Download, Install, or launching the game. I also verified that all links worked from the launch menu. I then started with a screen resolution of 1440x900.
I did look into the Library and saw the new equipment additions. I assume that only the new equipmrnt was available for enlarging the interior schemes? I was unable to enlarge any of the older ones.
While playing Border Raids, I attempted all the Hot Keys and they worked as expected.
I received no indication or message to destroy the supply dump, I just did it anyway.
Per request, I have saved the replay and is attached here:
Ok I attempted to attach the replay but got the error on this site: The extension pzrpl is not allowed.

Re: Allied: Border Raids
I like the addition of the recon unit on Italian side. It adds a tiny element of danger to the scenario. Except nothing to add to the previous comments.

The Italian recon car is a great addition and adds a bit of spice to the mission. Not much to this one, but a good learning tool.

Beta 2 - Colonel - DV at turn 6
I aggree, the italian recon is a nice change. Again it is a simple and easy to win scenario - if you'll ever modify the vanilla campaign, the Wehrmacht-tutorial could be added to the vanilla campaign.

Re: Allied: Border Raids
I like the scenario. For a trainer it is just as good as the Wehrmacht proving grounds- which was just as graduated in terms of steps.
I don't mind the choice of North Africa 1940. I think it works nicely as the training grounds to learn the basics.
It's easy and simplistic but that's what a 1st scenario in a tutorial should be. The added escort adds a nice touch.

Border Raids
IDS_SCEN_AXIS_CAM_OBJECTIVES + IDS_SCEN_AXIS_SCN_OBJECTIVES
"More than 6 trucks needs to survive."
need
A small observation:
IDS_SCEN_ALLIED_CAM_OBJECTIVES
Kill all 9 trucks from Supply Convoy. Kill at least 3 trucks from Supply Convoy.
IDS_SCEN_ALLIED_SCN_OBJECTIVES
Kill at least 3 trucks from Supply Convoy.
It would be better to replace 'kill' with 'destroy', but it's not technically wrong.

Beta-3 - colonel - level - triumph 6/12 - prestige 200 (start) / 300 (end) + 600 (victory bonus)
The scenario seems to be finished and the prestige rewards function properly.

Re: Allied: Border Raids
Scenario: Border Raids
Difficulty level: Colonel
Outcome: Triumph on turn 8/12
Ending Prestige: 240 (had to resupply one of the armored cars, so I used elite reinforcements).
I destroyed the supply dump for bonus XP.
Fun little scenario - I like the unconventional, commando-style missions.
Just a note - I played up to First Alamein on Lieutenant first just to get a feel for the game, before I decided to come back and document everything on Colonel. The Lieutenant run was fun, but I was swimming in XP and it was a bit easy. I'm hoping this run on Colonel will be more of a challenge.

Re: Allied: Border Raids
As all this beta-testing is a complete new thing to me, so please give me feedback, if i can do things better. Also, i'm no native speaker .. still i hope, things are readable.
Download and installation went well. Game is running fine, Alt-Tabbing into i-tunes is no problem.
Now into Border Raids: I liked the idea of starting very(!) easy a lot. It may even be to easy for experienced players but with different entry points, this should be ok. Starting the campaign in Dunkirk may look interesting .. but a coordinated retreat with heavy losses would be asking to much from new players. But that may be an option for DLCs in the future
I also like the focus on recon units - which i did not use that much in Panzer Corps Wehrmacht. The added italian recon helps the Scenario in not getting to boring - otherwise, all those trucks running into my forces will give a false impression of things to come. On the other hand, strenghtening those trucks (as proposed before) would (in my opinion) be the wrong decision. Those are just trucks .. they do not have a great spotting range nor are they able to survive direct attack. So to me, this should stay as it is.
Minor Problems encountered (Beta 3):
After destroying the ammo dump, system told me of some prestige earned .. but those points appeared only after deselecting the destroying unit (mentioned before by other users).
I could not overstrengthen units beyond their experience - as written in another topic. Has this been deactivated for beta 3 (sorry, did not find an according message).
As in the next scenarios, the italian units seem to be pretty inactive. Some of them follow their scripted paths, but i cannot see any coordinated attack, no reaction to my advance. Starting Sidi Barrani tonight .. perhaps, it's getting better then.
As in the following scenarios, i have the feeling of having to much prestige. In Wehrmacht, there has often been the situation of being able to recruit new units or having to upgrade them .. but lacking the prestige to do so. This time, i start into Sidi Barrani with 3k spare points (already having two spare units).
Best Regards
Tom

Border Raids - Beta 4
I decided to go through the scenario one more time. This time at the Field Marshall Level, up 1 level.
Prestige Begin: 200 End:300 with Victory: +600
Results: Triumph 10/12
At this level, the dump took a little longer to destroy with the Vickers, should have used a Recon.
This scenario looks complete and ready...

Border Raids - RC1
Level: General
Prestige Begin: 200 End:300 with Victory: +600
Results: Triumph 7/1
Core: 2 x Rolls Royce Recon and 1 Vickers
Plan: Move the Vickers up to Destroy the Italian Supply Dump. 100pp will be rewarded to you upon its destruction. Use the Rolls Royce Recons to initially attack the trucks. After the supply dump is destroyed, I setup an armor picket line that will stop the enemy from breaking through. Watch your supply levels.
