15mm Generals elements

Post by miffedofreading »

I believe 15mm generals elements should be on 40mm square bases. There appear to be different levels of generals, without the rules yet I don’t know what these imply. I was considering for my roman/Carthaginian forces 2 cav + 2-3 inf on a base for the C-in-C and 1 cav + 3-4 inf for other generals. Does this seem reasonable? What have other people done? I would like to make the generals elements something a little special

Around Northern Virginia most people seem to be using their dbm armies as FoG armies, and using the 2, 3 or 4 to a base as required under the old rules.

Generals bases are, essentially, just markers so do whatever you want and looks good - your idea is pefectly OK.

The main difference between the types of generals, BTW, is the distance at which they can influence troops.

I'm toying with the idea of the 28mm figure for Inspiring Generals, but mostly its just the usual DBx generals elements

This is the 28mm Inspiring Hannibal

Madaxe Gneeral

Mad Axe your General is interesting. I saw him on your website. Upon seeing him here again, I have mixed emotions. I really like how it stands out. But in some ways I find it detracts from your army as well.

So. You get a thumbs up and a thumbs down.

Though,

if at your table I could only provide compliments, and I would probably give two thumbs up, as it certainly is easy to distinguish.

I know what you mean - I am not 100/ sure either. But that may be fbm psychology where generals. Actually fight as a troop base. In fog they are markers to a greater extent.

Is it possible to mount generals on circular bases, or do they need a straight edge to rank up with the unit they are commanding?

They need to be on a rectangular/square base of the correct width. There is another thread discussing the movement of generals to line up precisely with a base of a battle group.
