Re: Allied: Allied Disputes
Excellent scenario but the US Calliope has nn mouvement sound and the attack sound is a wrong one, it should be a rocket sound instead of a shell one.
I played on the Allied side meaning USA+GB.
I doubt the Polish units with Panzer G had a serious change to reach the "A" hex.
They are immediately surrounded by Soviet tanks, furthermore once they suffer losses they cannot be repaired (oner tank was partly repaired and it was impossible to repair the other one).
I also noted the British bridge tank can be bought with a ground transport like a truck??? Isn't it a mistake ?

Re: Allied: Allied Disputes
Finished, Beta3, FM, Chess mode, 18/18 (no more enemy units on turn 15), ending prestige 388.
I lost some units on this map, and it is not really common. The enemy surprise me by its air power, as I got assailed 4-5 times by 3-5 good enemy air units. During the first turns, I got even my fighters without ammo, as I was shouting enemy airplanes down continuously. The problem is mainly protect all your air units (4 Strat bombers and 3 tac bombers) and ground units with only 3 fighters. Prestige was really tight, as I had to sell all unneeded units at the beginning of the map to be able to field 6 Commet tanks, and that was really needed against enemy waves of armor. T28 is nice, especially by its ability to withstand enemy attacks (it was gangbanded by 2 IS2 and survived). Polish resistance tanks survived (1 at 10 strength, 2 at 3 strength).
As always, strategic bombers are needed to attack enemy tanks without loosing too many strength points, especially against enemy heavy units such as IS2 and ISU-100. My dream list of core units would have been different on this map, but with the lack of prestige reserve during this allied campaign in FM (and it is really nice as it is, I am not complaining), I have to field suboptimal units with a strength of 10-11 (as an example, one of my Meteor had a strength of 10, and I hadn't the prestige to OS it to 13). Prestige constraint is such a huge difference with the old DLC. I am no more bathing in it.
Finally, I made some computation concerning this prestige cap at the beginning of the scenario. The average prestige price of my units (including OS) is 638, with a minimal cost for a commando units with transport and OS 11 of 327 and a max for my B24 (900, with OS of 14). If I am computing well, that mean that I am earning only 40% of the prestige, thus 20 prestige for a flag and 40 prestige for a VH. It must be also the same for the win between the scenarios. I am below normal prestige (400) only with some of my infantry units, but even Rangers are above this 400 prestige cap.
That mean that to earn more prestige, I should perhaps use more infantry, and less tanks. If I have to replay this campaign, I will perhaps make this test. It will perhaps take me more turns to achieve victories, but I would earn more prestige and be less tight with it. Likewise, I should have paid more attention to prestige cost. As a example, Hallifax Mk.III (470) is better than a B17 (703) as an example. But with an OS of 14, the difference of prestige coast is enormous (658 vs 984). Moreover, using more anti-tank units should also be useful, as they are 1.5 to 2 time less pricey as same survivability tanks.
Last points, it is a shame that I was not able to use units such as M26 and Tortoise on this map...

Allied Dispute
General Level
Beta 4
Losses: 2x P=47s
Marginal Victory
And now, I have officially completed every Allied Corps scenario. I had to use the endscn 0 cheat to play this one since I only got a victory on Berlin West. This was an outstanding scenario, and an honest to goodness, defensive battle. it seems like it has been far too long since we had one of these on this campaign! The Red Air Force was a major menace, shooting down both of my American fighters. I used my extra prestige to buy some extra Meteors to help with the bombers and paratroopers. This was a highly challenging scenario, I truly felt pushed to my limit in the opening phase of the attack. I would say this is one of my favorite scenarios in the campaign for sure, it does have some problems though.
The Polish units seem impossible to keep alive. As soon as they are spawned, they are swamped by a mob of Soviet heavy armor. I couldn't keep any of them alive, even when I sent a 15 strength Mosquito to try to help out. Also the "A zone"is hard to see. I only saw one hex by the airport by Frankfurt. I would recommend adding some more hexes, just to make them easier to see.
Also, the final objective in the center of the map seems impossible to take. I was on the defensive throughout most of the scenario of course, but by the time the Soviet attack seemed to peter out, another wave started. Looking at the battlefield after the battle, there had to be like 20-30 Soviet units by that last objective. There is no way in heck that I would have been able to take that.

Re: Allied: Allied Disputes
Beta 4. General. Starting prestige 6625, ending 90. Victory (barely with cheats).
A truly brutal battle. The soviets have better equipment and superior numbers. I lost several tank units to their IS-2s and KV-5s. I could barely contain their air forces. I was able to keep their airborne landing from occurring. I shot down most of their transports. However, it was impossible to rescue the Polish forces. I had to cheat code to restrengthen several units before they were destroyed. The allied units simply aren't numerous enough nor do they have sufficiently powerful equipment to deal with the Red army at this stage in the war. I suggest moving the scenario out a bit in time so that the best allied units are available (M-26s, etc.) That would make it a more even fight. As it is now on the higher difficulties I don't think this is balanced at all. With better equipment for the allies, this would have been a very fun battle.

Re: Allied: Allied Disputes
Thanks to all for the feedback so far. Couple of side notes. I started campaign at D-Day on Colonel difficulty level, here I switched to Field Marshal and after Triumph unlocked bonus difficulty settings. To unlock bonus difficulty settings it was required to win only last scenario with highest outcome but since in previous content difficulty could not be changed from scenario to scenario that had more sense than it has now. The way scenario is in Beta 4 it is more than possible to win with a Triumph but some tweaks will be done here and there. First one is increase of prestige. It is very intense battle and (elite)replacements should not be the problem here. Enemy fighters were reduced for -1 experience star. (I entered scenario with Mustang, Thunderbolt and Tempest, purchased green Meteor.) Some of heavy armour to counter Poles was reduced by couple of points in strength and -1 star of experience. Super Heavy tank got 5 star of experience and 15 strength. Some of the heavier Soviet armour for final counterattack was reduced in experience and couple of strength points. There are couple of more areas marked as "A". Message about arrival of Super Heavy was in the game but the trigger was broken so it is fixed now. Scripting related to clearing the map before turns run out have been improved.
Re: Allied: Allied Disputes
Plus exit zones are added. This is excellent scenario for having opportunity to pull some units into reserve and put fresh ones into the fight.
Re: Allied: Allied Disputes
Just finished playing this battle on FM setting. It is a truly brutal battle--lots of casualties. I think one of the big disadvantages for the Allies is obviously the smaller core size, but also the fact that because of the small core size, I only had four meteor fighter jets (2 of them SE) in my core by the time I got to this battle. I also had a Mosquito V2, and a B29 and a Lancaster MKIII. This air core was adequate for the scenarios against Axis forces, but it was inadequate for handling the Soviet air force (in terms of numbers of aircraft faced, as well as the dozen or so paratrooper aircraft). It was interesting to see how the Western Allies military equipment faired against their Soviet counterparts. I was actually surprised how well some of the Western Allied equipment handled the big Soviet armor.
I did not understand the Polish "free army" entry into the scenario. You have the three captured German Panthers, but they did not seem to have a specific objective. It would be interesting to see rogue German units join with US and UK units to stave off a Soviet assault. Perhaps if the Allied Corps series gets the DLC treatment, this option can be explored.
The only other thing I would have liked to have seen would have been a fight between the Western Allies and the Soviet forces take place a bit later in 1945 so that the M26 Pershing tank would be available for use. It was not available yet in January 1945 when this "what-if" scenario occurred.
I enjoyed beta testing this series. The Panzer Corps franchise has really come a long way in the almost two years since its introduction. Aside from Allied Corps DLCs, I still hope that there is a Pacific Corps someday!

Nice scenario. I noticed the oversized Russian infantry. Good touch!
Re: Allied: Allied Disputes
Hi,
I guess Pacific General will follow Soviet Corps and let's not forget the use of Pz Corps on Mac platform!
Allied Corps is a success according to me, great music, great scenarios and an improved e-file! Congrats to the team!
According to me the best scenario of Panzer General was Berlin when the city was encircled by Western Powers and Soviets. I also played the conversion of the PG campaign for Pz Corps (v 0.15), I also played the "Berlin" standalone scenario on Allied side. Allied Corps could have included a scenario where the player could have played Allied AND Soviet troops around Berlin (as a "branch scenario" in case Allied come to late to enter the city of Berlin itself). The only other thing I would have liked to have seen would have been a fight between the Western Allies and the Soviet forces take place a bit later in 1945 so that the M26 Pershing tank would be available for use. I do not know if there will be DLCs for Allied Corps, but I am impatient to discover Soviet Corps where Ivan will crush the Finns first...I enjoyed beta testing this series.
