Triumph

Post by drumars »

I think we should change the picture, especially gun (Luger) after each scenario. :roll:

I think they will do this, it looks decidedly too German for an Allied Commander. :)

But as we are already at "Triumph"... several players already wondered about the new name for decisive/major victory.

IDS_CAM_OUTCOME0 Triumph
IDS_CAM_OUTCOME1 Victory
IDS_CAM_OUTCOME2 Loss
IDS_SCN_OUTCOME0 Allied Victory
IDS_SCN_OUTCOME1 Axis Victory

are listed as degrees/types of victory. One has to take in mind that "Minor/Major Victory" don't sound too good when translated literally to German, but "Triumph" or "triumphaler Sieg" are "too much" for me. How about just "Victory" and "Great Victory" or "Decisive Victory" or "Major Victory".

It's for sure not top priority, but everyone now has the chance to make a statement what he wants to hear upon a major victory <- hu, I still use Panzer General nomenclature. :)

Whilst I do like the 'Triumph', I am less happy with 'Victory'.
Perhaps make it 'Marginal Victory.' ?

I agree "marginal victory" would be better. I, on the other hand, think "Triumph" is a bit catchy and meaningless and think "Decisive Victory" has a clearer, more accurate meaning.

True enough, but I like the change of name, it fits with a change of perspective to an allied point of view.
I wouldn't say that Triumph is meaningless. It's origins stem back to Roman times.
Oddly though it sits well with me, especially from a Brit perspective.
It is the type of word the upper crust ( senior officers ) of that era might be likely to use.

Victory really seems to be incorrect if you use Triumph.
Minor victory is better.

I think if:

DV = "Triumph", then:

MV = BSA, and:

Loss = Norton.

At least that is how I personally rank them. ;)

Personally I would rank Norton above BSA.

Then again where are all the other iconic bikes going to fit in? :?
