France Counter Attack

Forgive me if this is a) a stupid question and/or b) been asked before.

I've just bought the game and playing as the allies, started in 1939. Now, the question: why can't French units counter attack into Germany?

Oh, and can you cancel a purchased unit while it is being created?

Nope.

They can't get into Germany because the Siegfried Line is in the way. You've got no hope of breaking through it either. Not that early in the game.

Thanks for the answers. Yeah, I didn't expect to be able to get anywhere by attacking Germany at the start but was puzzled as it doesn't even seem to give you the option of moving your unit into any German hex, occupied or not.

What an awesome game though, I've been looking for something like this for years!

There are zone of control rules in this game. You probably weren't able to move GARs - try moving Corps.
