problem to install

Hi,

i bought the german version of commander europe at war today. i was running the setup and after the selection of the directory you can wait and wait and wait... the setup is "preparing for installation" and then - no more action.

what can i do now?

PS: the system of my computer is XP!

Sorry you are having problems. I'm not sure how the German disk is set out so I don't know exactly what you should do. I've asked for some samples to be sent over by CDV so we know how they have set it up, but so far we don't have any.

There should be an installer on the CD and you shoudl just run this to install the game. The installer will be some sort of .exe file. Do you see any on the CD?

yes you are right, on cd is one .exe - the only file except an info-file. and after running this .exe i had the problems. and i have a second computer. there are the same problems.

i hope you can help me.

Check the CD is not scratched - you could try copying the setup.exe to your hard disk and running it from there?

the cd is ok. i had the idea to copy the file to hard disk too. but the same result. wait until the end of days...

It's a very odd problem. You are not in the game you are just running the install program and these don't usually fail! I'm not sure what to suggest right now. If it happens on both PC's it sounds like there might be a problem with your disk. You have not even got to the game code - and that's the bit we did.

Are you able to install & play other games ok?

We are working on getting info from the company who is making the installer whether they can conclude if this is a hardware problem, disc error on anything else like software.

We got info form the company providing the installation software. It is obvious that it fails installing the Java on your machine. I wonder, do you have anything preventive on your PC such as virus protection that could hinder the installation process?

Since it is CDV releasing the German retail version, have you tried contacing them and what was their reply?
