Re: LORDS OF ITALY circa 280 BC
iandavidsmith (carthaginian) 43/44 win
vrs
Lydianed (Gauls) 44/44 loss
The whole map was hills and valleys and the 2 armies clashed together in a heap
of blood and guts , the Carthaginians just got lucky in the end by one point.
can't get any closer than this and i got the wild boar sandwiches !!
Great game , looking forward to Part 2 ....
Cheers

oooohhh! Sooo close. The Gauls are really upset about losing by such a narrow margin. It was all due to the magic reanimating elephant who had three lives I thinkiandavidsmith wrote:iandavidsmith (carthaginian) 43/44 win

Re: LORDS OF ITALY circa 280 BC
Lydianed (Gauls) 27/44 vs. Uheng (MRR) 40/40
The Romans formed up with their poorer troops and MF on some rough ground to their right flank. The Gauls redeployed their own line, realigned themselves to hit the left-most end of the Roman line and bring a large flanking force of chariots to bear. Man for man the Romans were stronger but they struggled to bring all of their power into play and the Gauls were able to use their greater number to win battles by attrition. The chariots and gallic fighters eventually overwhelmed the Roman left before the Roman gains in the middle of the park became decisive. Great game.

Round 2: mirror games. all the rules governing the makeup of armies apply. see first post. remember: 4 leaders (including one inspired).
show army when challenging. "very open" terrain. receiving players: make sure also you have it "very open" (because the default is "mixed")
uheng1997 to challenge: batesmotel, deeter, fogman, morbio
batesmotel to challenge: lydianed, deeter, ulisisgrunt
morbio to challenge: batesmotel, ulisisgrunt, fogman, deeter
lydianed to challenge: morbio, deeter, iandavidsmith, uheng1997
deeter to challenge: ulisisgrunt, iandavidsmith, fogman
ulisisgrunt to challenge: uheng1997, iandavidsmith, lydianed
iandavidsmith to challenge: uheng1997, batesmotel, morbio, fogman
fogman to challenge: batesmotel, lydianed, ulisisgrunt
good luck and enjoy the digital killing
let me know if you're not familiar with the format.

What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

Now all your games will be against Syracusans. For example, in round 1 you played against my Pyrrhic army. In this round we exchange armies, I play Syracusans and you Pyrrhics.
Therefore when Morbio challenges you, you have to look for one that says vs Syracusans and then you will choose a Carthaginian army (later, pre-235) because in round 1 morbio was carthaginian.
You are to challenge uheng (you will play as romans), iandavidsmith (you will play as carthaginian), lydianed (you will play as gauls). Make sure you show your army so that those players know which challenge to pick up.
Similarly, when you are challenged by a particular player, you need to see first what army they used in the first round so that you can build an army of the same 'nationality' before you're ready to accept the challenge. remember to build according to the requirements set out in the first post.

Danny you didn't password protect your challenges, i see them out in the public area. cancel them and re-do them.
Re: LORDS OF ITALY circa 280 BC
Okay, I know this has happened before, but what do i do if i don't have the book my opponents army was from? I have RoR but not IF and I am supposed to play Later Syracusians.
Cheers,
Chris

Re: LORDS OF ITALY circa 280 BC
then you play the carthaginian army, which is the most similar to the syracusans'.

i accepted your challenge, but it was posted for the main rule book only and at 400 points. You won initiative so i couldn't resign. Please resign the game and repost the challenge. the Carthaginians are eager to get some Romans!

And interesting about the trek reference in that we could get stuck in a time loop. I have had a couple of games recently were i have sent turns to my opponent and when they send them back it is like I never sent the turn to begin with. The tech boys have yet to respond to my query, but I think I've got it down to a particular internet connection that is causing the problem, but don't be surprised if you open up our game and you get a feeling of deja vu.
Cheers,
Chris
