The Great War vs Europe at War
I love these types of games but I prefer the WW2 time frame so I am on the fence about which one to get. I know this game is more recent, is there much difference in game play?

Lots. The AI in The Great War is much smarter and there are more unit types plus tanks aren't available right away and Yugoslavia isn't around yet (obviously). One big difference is artillery; it's just a research area in Europe At War but in The Great War it's its own unit type and needs ammunition to fire.
In spite of the Final Fantasy character it's pronounced sao-win after the Irish pagan god of death. I'm not a pagan but we're on a wargames website so I thought it fitting.

Some other big differences are under the hood as CEAW engine was developed a few years back by another party and was written in Java, CTGW engine is brand new and written in C++, so allows:
- Integrated crossplatform multiplayer via Slitherine’s revolutionary PBEM++ server system.
- Faster loading and turn speeds. Smoother zooming and scrolling.
- The new engine allows supporting any display resolution from 1024×600 upwards and includes full wide screen support.
- Support of animations.
- Complete new AI.
- Extreme moddability using the lua scripting language and the ongoing development on a map/scenario editor, allowing players to alter many aspects of gameplay including; maps, combat, research, unit statistics, terrain effects and many more.
- The current Engine is currently being ported to Mac and iOS.

Thanks for the replies. I went to buy The Great War and it offered me a deal on Europe at War so I got both. Have only played Great War so far.

Is this the "delay"
Will CEaW make it to iOS?
