Wheeled vs All Terain recon units
Was wondering what the opinion of others was on the worth of the early wheeled recon units vs the more advanced 8 wheel all terain class of recon units. It is tempting to purchase the 8 wheeled recon units that may have better offensive, defensive characteristics, but is there a place for one wheeled recon unit in your corp because of the greater movement on roads for special missions?

I just finished brushing up on my movement rules, and I think I have come to the conclusion that there is no movement advantage in the early wheeled recon cars when compared to the 8 wheel awd units. Since each of the units has a movement of 8 movement
recon car (wheeled): Road movement =8, clear movement =4
8 wheel (AWD):Road movement =8, clear movement =8
Can anyone confirm this?

Yes, both the 'wheeled' and the 8-rad (all-terrain) have movement 8, and they both spend 1 movepoint per hex on roads in clear weather.
All-terrain is at least equal and often better in cost of movement. So if the movement rates are the same (8 hexes for both), all-terrain is simply better.

While that may be correct, they each travel over mud snow and rough terrain differently.
The 6 wheel vehicles move farther.

I am not referring to the amount of fuel.
6 wheeled vehicles and more have a different movement type that allows them to move farther per turn in bad weather conditions.

6 Wheeled vehicles have the same movement type as 4 wheeled vehicles "#2" -> "IDS_MOVT_WHEELED".Razz1 wrote:I am not referring to the amount of fuel.

Only 8 wheeled vehicles have movement type "#7" -> "IDS_MOVT_ALL_TERRAIN".
