BHGS Challenge 6/7 April - Runners, Riders and now, Results!

Post by kevinj »

Hi Gents, it's a small but select band this year:

Thankfully some variety after the first 3 lists I received were Early Swedes!

See you all next weekend.

I don't think the change of venue has helped, the AM numbers are down too.

Yippee, a chance to use my anti-salvo and anti-kurrassiere tactics!

Just have to think of 'em by Saturday.

Anyone fancy a game on Friday?

I so wish that I'd taken French or Royalists just to be different!

Oh well, it's all down to the dice gods (well that's my excuse if I don't win!)

Here's to a great weekend!

Dave I may be able to give you a game - I may like to try out the Froggies (not quite Swedes but only cowards, men lacking a certain panache and Pete Dalby use Swedes)! Can I confirm on Wednesday, if someone else hasn't grabbed you by then!

Don,

I can only play in the morning or afternoon as I'm back in London in the evening.

Ah - that's me out then as the earliest I'm likely to get there is 3 pm.

All - that means Dave is still available for a game AM or PM.

Just wanted to post a belated 'Thank you' to Kevin for organising, umpiring and list checking for the Challenge and also to my opponents for 5 very enjoyable games.

It's back to the drawing board for my Swedes after another unsucessful outing but as usual I have only myself to blame for some poor tactical choices and decisions on the games I lost.

I really enjoyed the banter within the group but it's back to Ancients and V2 for me now for at least Campaign & Britcon but I hope to make at least 2 of the remaining rounds of the Southern League as long as Don chooses a sensible date for the final round. Missing you already!

We're not offering any prizes for guessing who won. Don Avis was second and Dave Allen third. I'll post the full results when I get them.

Just to second Pete's thanks to Kevin. Despite being soundly thrashed in 4 out of 5 games I really enjoyed the weekend. It was an eye-opener both in terms of what troop types work best and the way some troop type combinations can be used.

To paraphrase Arnie 'I'll have to have another go at this lark!'

Here are the Results:

As expected, this was a very tight competition. Any of the final top 8 could have finished in the top 3. Despite the fact that there was a limited number of armies selected each had very different compositions.
