What scale will your NEXT army be?

Post by Malidor »

pbeccas' poll indicates a broad preference amongst gamers as to what scale they plan to use for FoG. I thought I'd ask a very similar question but with an important difference ~ what scale will your next army be? For this poll we'll assume that you'll be buying a new army in the next few months (otherwise I've included a 'no new army for me' as the last option).

You may think the question redundant when pbeccas' poll has asked a question that seems identical. This poll differs in that the results will indicate planned purchases (if any) rather than broad scale loyalty. The results of both polls will be of interest to manufacturers and retailers.

Note that I have not included "15mm & 25/28mm" as an option ~ yes, you might be simultaneously collecting a new army in each scale, but to keep things simple I want you to choose one scale only!

Feel free to reply to the thread with any particular manufacturers that take your fancy.

pbeccas' poll can be found here:

My next will be 15mm, either Corvus Belli or Xyston depending on which list I settle on

Lancashire Games do some nice Scots spearmen - just 3 poses IIRC but are good and it includes a kneeling figure.

I'm working on Italian Condotta, Visigoth, and Late Imperial Roman - all in 15mm - so I guess that's the scale for my next armies. Presently, I have several armies in 25mm that I was using for Warrior and WAB, but with the upcoming release of FoG, there are several WAB players at my FLGS that are working on 15mm to give the game a try. I already had a 15mm Roman (used for Polybian and Marian - oops, I guess that's now Mid and Late Republican Roman), but was light on anything else in that scale. Given the lower cost and ease of painting, it is simple to add a few more armies in order to offer the club a greater variety of opponents. Can't wait for the rules.

Greetings

1. Adding to my 15mm Polybians - so that's probably existing.

2. Painting some of the massive amount of unpainted 15mm hoplite Greek figures.

3. Then there's late HYW 10mm and other things to unearth and paint - even if I focus on FoG over other eras it'll take years :)

Regards
Edward

Mine will be big old 28mms; probably Crusader Numidians, or possibly Fondry Macedonians.

I voted 25mm as that is closest to 28mm.

If I could switch all my 15mm figures to 6mm on 15mm bases I think I would do so in an instant, massed smaller figures look really good on the table.

But then I did consider doing WWII with 6mm figures and a 1/300 ground scale!!

I have 2/3 DBM armies in 15mm. Therefor I anticipate the release of the hot topic Wargames 25/28mm and plan on those being my next army for variety.

EDIT 2/3 means 2 full armies with a 3rd morphable. Not 2/3's of one.

My next army

Post by irondog068 »

I have a French and Swiss 15mm army for the Great Italain Wars.
A huge mass of Samurai in 28mm

My next army will be 28mm Ceaseran Legion (loved Rome on HBO)
After that either a Warring states in 28mm or Perrys Koreans for the Japanese Korean conflict in 1590.
