I don't have my rules on me, but I think you're right. I think the theory goes something like that they have half the dice, probably fighting at a minus, so if after all of that they pass a cohesion test it is probably because they fought not bad for their weight. Eventually 'lucky rolls' aren't going to be enough and the LF will die... so it's just prolonging the inevitable.cantbeatdavy wrote:hi all.just wondering,if light foot are beaten, in the open, by determined horse do the light foot suffer a minus in moral?there is a minus for medium foot being beaten by mounted, but i cant find anything about the lights.cheers in advance.john

Well... That's pretty amazing. When you consider that they are going to likely have twice as many dice against them AND probably be at a disadvantage, they would be rolling at negatives and probably losing a base nearly every phase. That's 'PROBABLY'. Trouble with probability is it does have unusual realities.cantbeatdavy wrote:hi ravenflight i prolonged the inevitable for 6 or so bounds.......they still hadnt broke when the game ended.....i will put it down to my poooooor dice.

I had a series of games in my early FoG games where if my opponent attached a general to a BG he was destined to die. In one case I evaded with LF from MF and was caught in the rear. My opponent put his general in the front rank. So, my DISRUPTED LF won the impact and disrupted the MF. Then won the melee and killed the general.
Something like 2 other BG's went fragmented from the combination of seeing friends rout AND general killed.
Statistically it's 'impossible'... Clearly not, as it happened.

in ourgame...anglodutch starter army v later swiss starter army...the combat was on a flank.i had charged and caught the fleeing LF.i think he had a general fighting from the iniatial impact onwards.IIRC it was a largish BG maybe 6 or 8 Lf.the combats just went on and on.i think i got him down to disrupted but he was able to rally.i was too busy trying to shot up, ever advancing, keils to allow more BGs to join in the melee with the LF.my usual awful dice v his usual great dice.....what do ya do?????
same again this thurs nite.

It's the same in the Ancient and Medieval ruleset. It's done there at least to avoid "double jeopardy". i.e. the LF have many disadvantages that will normally kill them anyway.

And it happens in FOGAM too as my Superior Classical Indian Heavy Chariots held up forever by some LF will testify.
I have said it once and will say it again, the biggest problem with FOG is having to roll dice
(except when it's working for me)
