That was a major strategic blunder by Morris. There was absolutely no reason to stick to Stalingrad with all those units when there were no flank to protect these units. Such a blunder can mess up the Axis 1942 offensive and eventually the entire game.

Did Morris leave von Paulus in charge at Stalingrad? Looks like the Russians are spending ALL their resources to eliminate the place, giving the Axis a chance to relax everywhere else. The Stalingrad debacle has no connection with the rest of the front anyway. 1942 should be verrryy interesting!

Cybvep wrote:Huh, why you left ARM units near Stalingrad? That's a rather bizzare move in 1942 IMO. ARMs are very expensive and you only get 4/2*war effort from Stalingrad per turn. I even see two leaders there!
Yes , it was a mistake . but When I want to retreat them back , it is already bad weather . :(

The good thing is that the Soviets probably won't have much time to launch many more offensives before the arrival of fair weather. It remains to be seen what you will be able to achieve with your own offensives...

What was the point of moving to Stalingrad in 1941? Did you really think you could hold that city in the winter?

I thought there were no city to deploy the red army around Stalingrad & defend by several elite units with defence plus general should be able to hold it until next spring . But the fact is I was wrong !

... but the Russians were evidently concentrating in the area in January. At least this is what I gather from the screenshots you posted here.

Anyway, what's done is done. Spring Offensive awaits.

I like the Russian player's attack at the Axis weak point. He has already forced the commitment of some heavy troops that I'm sure Morris wanted in the east instead. The trick is to not push too far and get caught. Losing guard mechs this early is very bad.

It still looks like Morris has the advantage. He should be able to capture Moscow and seal off the Russian south by winter if he plays his cards right.
