Shouldn't it be called Allied Corps European Theater?

Shouldn't it be called Allied Corps European Theater?

Post by Zhivago »

I am one of those Panzer Corps devotees who is anxiously awaiting Allied Corps. Based on the limited description info available, it appears that it is going to be based completely on the European/North African theater of operations. However, in the interest of future planning (and hoping there will eventually be a Pacific Theater Allied Corps), shouldn't the name of Allied Corps be titled Allied Corps--Europe? or something like this to distinguish it from a potential Pacific/Far East Campaign? Will there be an Allied Corps West 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45 (obviously after Dunkirk in June 1940, the action would move to N. Africa where the British started fighting the Italians in June 1940). I assume it will be British/UK Commonwealth and USA in the Europe West, and Soviets in the East-Front Campaign?

And in the East, would Allied Corps start with the Soviet campaign in Finland, like Allied General did? Or, would it start with the invasion of Poland in 1939? Obviously, not much was going on in the Europe (East) after Poland was divided up until Barbarossa in June 1941. The Russians did scrap with the Japanese off and on from 1932 to 1941, when a "neutrality pact" was signed in April 1941. This pact was ultimately discarded in August 1945 when the Russians invaded Manchuria. I am curious as to the "road-map" for the future of Allied Corps (and hope that one day there will be a Pacific Corps).

Isn't that just enough distinction ;)

I'm an attorney by trade, so that's just my need for precision terms coming out. I can't help it sometimes.
