but not to chinese and danish crossbow n heavy weapon infantry.

chalk n cheese. luck of the draw. dave h got 93 0f 100 points at Burton with masses of elephants but would be the first to say he was lucky not to face pike.

think the use of generals and their ability to move units is the biggest factor in V2. be interesting to see how many IC's appear at the challenge.

I do take umbrage with Mr R insinuating that I will be painting my army on the morning of the comp. In fact I am well on top of the Principate Roman painting with only two units to complete by Friday. And I do know I won't make Durham to Brighton in 3 hours...think it will be nearer four!!!!

Now stop all this idle chitter chatter. I've got work to do. Romans don't paint themselves you know.

Largely, I think because everybody has just taken their v1 army:
Rob Taylor - Later Ottoman Turk
Ian Stewart - French Ordonnance
Graham Briggs - EAP

Pushed the boat out their lads
Indeed. In my defence I can point out that I am a dullard. Also, I've used EAP since 1976, albeit with a hiatus in DBM days (had the army, couldn't get it to work). Habit of a lifetime.

It'll be interesting to see how it plays now. Less skirmisher swarms about which is bad news but perhaps more shootable battle troops. Elephants won't enjoy the shooting but are good against us when in melee so that will be interesting. We're a bit tougher at impact but the immortals and cavalry don't dance as well as before.

I suspect the main problem will still be armoured foot.

Well at least you could have the nasty Serbian ally - "can't shoot it, can't fight it" comes to mind. No-one seems to take the Voynuks - I suppose there aren't enough of them to be properly useful.

Hmmmmmmm, now I may have both or I may have neither.

I don't particularly want to face your EAP's Graham but I don't think I've ever faced you so feel we are overdue a game.

Eventually found out how to deal with Elephants in v2. Allow them to charge you in the rear!

Apologies to my two opponents who didn't see the subtlety and obvious winning tactics behind this strategem.

The placings as I can remember

1. Dave Ruddock (Later Serbian)
2. Graham Briggs (Later Achamaenid Persian)
3. Richard Collins (U571)
4. Ian Stewart (French Ordonnance)
5. Lance Flint (Andalusian Murcia)

Can't remember exactly what the positions were after that - Rob Taylor and Graham Evans would probably have been sixth and seventh.

Me and Graham finished equal on points at the top, but I won the tie-breaker. We believe this was because the only player we had in common was Graham Evans and I got 13 points and Graham (Briggs) got 12 against Graham (Evans).

Much fun and apologies to my opponents for my outrageous dice.

I think I have 6th to 9th.

I was 7th and Paul Johnston was 9th.

By a process of elimination I think it would be Jason Broomer 6th and Graham Evans 8th.

Also nice to see that the advent of V2.0 has encouraged you to stretch your generalship by trying out yet another wildly different and imaginative type of army list compared to all of the previous "shed loads of skirmishes plus some mounted punch" that you've wheeled out on a handful of previous occasions in the past 6 years too

The army was:
4xTC
5x4 Kn, Armoured, Superior, Undrilled, Lancer, Swordsmen
3x4 LH, Unprotected, Average, Undrilled, Lancer, Swordsmen
1x4 LH, Unprotected, Average, Undrilled, Bow, Swordsmen
2x6 LF, Unprotected, Poor, Undrilled, Bow
1x4 LF, Protected, Average, Undrilled, Firearm
1x6 HF, Armoured, Average, Undrilled, Heavy Weapon
1x6 Mb, Unprotected, Poor

I think it safe to say that it was wildly different to any other v1 army I'd ever seen.
