A situation arose in a game i was playing tonight i need some help with
1 BG of heavy armoured gendarmes who were disrupted charged a BG of shot. The shot evaded and they both rolled a VMD dice, both getting 3 and 4 so no advantage. The gendarmes hit after moving 3 inches and the LT shot invaded 4 inches, so the gendarmes carried on 1 inch. the shot on my next moved fired making the gendarmes fragmented as they could not charge on his impact phase. they could not turn 90 degrees and still move to get away this would make them sitting ducks is there a rule that ive missed so they could run away as this is what he want to do.

I'm a little confused by your description, but just in case you have made this error... you are aware that troops who move in the impact phase cannot shoot in the shooting phase, meaning that if the shot evaded they would not have been able to shoot at the Gendarmes... also, the only shot (that I'm aware of) that can evade are light infantry and dragoons. If they were Later Tercio shot they would not have been able to evade (I'm pretty sure).grandad wrote:A situation arose in a game i was playing tonight i need some help with

Quite right that "shot" cannot evade, only light troops. Maybe LT shot means light troops? If so that makes more sense but I think he moved the gendarmes first, hence the "hit" then evaders moved so that's one thing to point out that you move evaders first.
The evading shot then turn and fire in his opponents bound fragmenting the gendarmes and yes all they can do in your own turn is a simple turn 180 stationary or 90 and move if he passes a CMT. Answer is though that they will probably still end up being shot at again so maybe stand and hope he doesn't get enough hits again and you can rally them.

Re: fragmented
Is there a rule that allows you to move in your opponents turn if you are in a position that is really bad for you?
The answer to this can be found by consulting the index and looking for "moving in your opponents turn to get out of really bad situations your troops happen to find themselves in"
As a general principle, If you can't find a reference to it in the index the chances are the rule doesn't exist.

Or ANOTHER way of looking at it is like chess... the better you come at chess the more moves ahead you can predict. Where was the error? Probably in getting the Gendarmerie disrupted in the first place. You can't make an omelet without breaking eggs, but if you find yourself in a situation where light infantry/dragoons have ruined your whole day then probably have the wrong list, or have put the wrong troops out there to deal with it (something that can't always be prevented).
I'm sure someone like Alasdair wouldn't have been in that situation, or if he was, he'd be in that situation while he broke the rest of your army.
So, in essence, it's not a rules issue, but a player skill issue, which can only improve with time.
Re: fragmented
Actually, despite previous sarcastic responses, there is a rule that allows troops to make emergency responses when trapped in difficult situations.grandad wrote:... is there a rule that ive missed so they could run away as this is what he want to do.
You'll find it on page 140.
Hope that helps.
