28mm Regimental Guns

Post by kevinj »

Once my current 15mm painting project is complete I'm thinking of venturing into 28mm, partly for variety but also because I don't have an army in that scale. Does anyone know of a manufacturer who makes something suitable for use as a Regimental Gun in 28mm? It's got to fit on a 30-40mm deep base.

I've got Minifigs field guns (ECW A1), with two crew each, on 40mm depth bases. Although supposedly field guns, they're much smaller than the Warlord sakers which I use as medium artillery so they look the part. The Minifigs galloper gun is excellent for light artillery but the carriage is too big to use as a regimental gun.

John,

I think Bicorne miniatures to a small frame gun that would fit on the base.

If you can't find their website, give me a shout.

Interesting. Any clue on TYWA3 Light Regimental Gun x1? (Though it seems odd that it is more expensive than the Medium Field Gun if it is smaller).

Sorry, no - I haven't seen that one. More pictures in their catalogue would be helpful!

The Bicorne ones look good for ECW/TYW but they come with crew which limits them to that period. Front Rank have some that look promising.

The main problem with most gun models seems to be that however small the gun may be, the trail is still hugely long. While this may be realistic, it makes it hard to fit them on RG bases.

Which of the Bicorne guns did you have in mind? The catalogue does not appear to have any pictures for the smaller guns.

EQ1, EQ13 or EQ34 might do. Or possibly even EQ12 if you are not picky about the short barrel.

It's the Frame Gun, although the only picture is for BIC-ECWG007, which isn't easy to judge the size.

Has anyone bought any of these yet and thoughts as to which is most suitable as I need some too!! :D

I'm almost tempted to go for a "large" 18mm gun, to set on a 20mm deep base as at the end of the day these are just markers!

Your help would be appreciated!

I think the Assault Group do some smallish guns in 28mm also though you have to hunt around on their webshite to find them.

Cheers

Here's the page for that. http://www.theassaultgroup.co.uk/store/home.php?cat=89

The frame gun looks like a possible, it doesn't seem to have too long a trail.
