I can't seem to beat the Germans at mission 5 holding the bridge. I do we'll through turn 10 then they simply overwhelm me to the extent there is no way I can hold 10 more turns! Can anyone help me with this ? What do I do to win this mission?
Thanks in advance too!
I'm not exactly sure I am commenting on the right mission but I will try. Is it Arnhem (sp?) you are playing? If so, it took me me a couple of times to beat it. I consolidated my forces to be tight right around the bridge. Machine guns in the two nests pointing toward the city. Not the far ones but the ones that sit on the corners of the mounds. They will take out many. Mortar team in the building to the right off of the bridge street next to the concrete bunker. This will give you a pretty wide area to engage. Bazooka team in the tower next to the bridge on the right. Do you get a cannon? I think so and i think i put it in the concrete bunker. Other bazooka teams in left building and nest in front. No armor should make it through from the bridge. Other forces, keep them tight and together in the cluster of buildings on the right and left. Keep the forces in the first two rows of buildings. Do not put forces in the outer third row of buildings because they will be destroyed quickly by multiple units. Let them come to you and have at least two units firing at each of the outer buildings or open tiles of entry. When the enemy comes they should be suppressed when hit by two units. Do not chase them, let them come and stay tight. Keep units only in the first two tiles of the first sets of buildings on the left and right. Do not move units forward past the building on the right next to the concrete bunker. Keep it tight. I used this strategy kicked major butt. Good luck!
Btw, I think this was a carry over mission. I went back and mastered the mission prior so that I lost only about 3-5 units and kept both of my jeeps. This helps big time when defending the bridge. If you have a big enough force, in the right places and plenty of patience, you will lose less than 10 units. I'm actually using a modified version of this tactic in MP and so far it is working pretty good. 7 turns to go and I still own 7 of 8 flags. That can change though depending on the experience level of the opponent. Good luck!
Market Garden is by far the most difficult DLC out there due to the fact of no real Armor until the later scenarios and the Carryover function. I'm still trying to be that damn DLC on hard..... I gave up after mission 6 but one day I will return!
I got that misson on my first try. focus all your men at the defences laid out for you and some in the houses around. A good tip is to keep your jeeps on side of the map that is opposite to the bridge https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/imag ... Nseq0uBRhg
Let them hate me, as long as they fear me. Caligula
