Crash on selecting unit on game start (MAC)
I've been having crashes on clicking on any unit, either directly on the map, or via military -> select, or via button "Order Units" upon new game start.
It seems that changing number of a.i. opponents anyhow breaks the game, until some other setting is changed (e.g. world size) game continues to crash, even if i do not touch the number of opponents upon restarting the game.
Changing number of opponents AND any other setting at the same time leads to crash as well.
P.S. "~/Library/Application Support/Proxy Studios/Pandora Beta/" no logs there. Attached apple crash dump.

For specs see attachment.
Btw, i found logs in "/Applications/Pandora\ Beta.app/Logs/", so the error log is attached as well.

Woha, that's quite a beastly Mac. How did you get the GTX 650 Ti in there? I'm sorry I'm not up to date with Mac details, is it like an upgrade that's not from Apple?

Re: Crash on selecting unit on game start (MAC)
Yeah, the card is not "apple certified", despite driver availability on nVidia website.
GPU Driver Version: 1.3.4.0 (304.00.05f02)
CUDA Driver Version: 5.0.37
I do now understand that this can be related, since i do not get a crash on standard MabookPro issue 2009 (with 9600GT onboard).

Quite sure it's the driver. Where did you download it from?

Since URL's are "OFF"
I could debug more, should you point me to the right direction.
P.S.
Err, i could not post link as whole:
P.P.S.
Maybe i explained the problem wrong way.
So to correct - i can play the beta without a problem unless i change number of opponents. Leaving default amount of them does not lead to crash, neither changing any other setting, including AI difficulty.
If i subtract one to any number of opponents, i get the aforementioned crash. And i keep getting crashed unless i change the planet size to any value, then it is okay again.

Code: Select all
www{dot}nvidia{dot}com/object/macosx-304.00.05f02-driver{dot}html

Re: Crash on selecting unit on game start (MAC)
I understand, but all the logs point to the graphics driver. Furthermore, for the driver you linked, Nvidia does not list your graphics card as supported. That it crashes in those circumstances and not more, seems to be, plainly speaking, just luck. No one else is experiencing such issues, as far as I know. So I'm sorry, but I don't think there's anything we can do -- you're using unsupported drivers and seemingly an unsupported graphics card for Mac.

Re: Crash on selecting unit on game start (MAC)
Have just updated to 10.8.3 and newest apple driver with official support for 650Ti and did not receive any unit selection related crash whatever i tried. Therefore i'm inclined to agree that the beta driver was the reason for crash.
System profiler info after the update:

Awesome! So you get the 650 Ti driver with system update? Neat.
