it looks like Axis could hold the line in Russia at least until Sept 1942 . I wonder whether Axis may achive this in our pbem . :)

Since it didn't seem like Alex was posting any secrets and the post was several turns behind where we are in the game, I assumed I could look in on this. (Alex -- please let me know if you'd prefer me not to). In answer to a question somebody raised earlier, here's a synopsis of the other theaters in Alex's game against me. This is through nearly the end of 1942.

The Axis immediately abandoned Africa, so 8th Army gobbled up the garrisons as expected. After a quick victory in Yugoslavia, the Axis moved on to Greece. There were several naval battles in the eastern Med, but when the dust settled, the Greeks, together with elements of 8th Army, held Athens, Saloniki and Crete. Four to five Axis corps keep watch against Allied breakouts.

There was a little debacle for the Allies in a 1941 invasion of Sicily, turned back by virtue of the entire Luftwaffe taking winter break along the Med. The Allies regrouped and invaded North Africa in late spring of '42, taking Algiers and Oran quickly, then clearing the rest of the coast. An invasion of Sardinia (currently in progress) followed.

The Atlantic has been relatively quiet, just a big battle off Norway in 1941, with very little U-boat activity since.

In the summer of '42 British paras took an undefended Dutch capital from the air. No American troops were available in England at the time, so the Brits undertook a limited invasion on their own. Losses have been heavy, but we've tied up a panzer and half a dozen infantry that would otherwise have been fighting on the eastern front. The large Anglo-American air force that covers most of eastern England has enjoyed shooting up the Axis troops. There are enough strategic bombers that they've had time to bomb northern Germany. Essen, Cologne and the Ruhr lie in ruins.

Axis's subs attack convoy & DD ! Unbelievable ! They sank the covoy & badly hurt the DD . We have to use DD to escort DD . :(

In Greece , The British Mech move into Athens to replace the defence job from Greek Corp & will Also land a Australian corp in Salonica ! We will hold Greece as long as possible so that to decrease the pressure of Axis coming Barbarosa ! :)

Alexandr launched a late Barbarossa in 1941 when he played me. It seems to be his speciality.

What I'm taking away from this so far is that invading Greece in a 1941 game is a bad idea. With the late Barbarossa it's not so bad, but the British can really screw with Axis plans for May or June.
