he he.
I know what you mean. There's just no supporting evidence.
My surname is White, and historically I'm used to going last!
Damned alphabetical order. Doug Black always got first pick.

Noel.

I have had few experience with the game, but I agree elite troops are hard opponents . But even romans, if they are countered by light troops can be out guessed and they will have to protect flanks .

If two heavy infantry armies face each other , the usual result is a "massive" battle somewere on the table , the real decision being made on the flanks . That might be a cause of " game fatigue " on the long run but we will see .

By the way, - contrary of a post I read here somewhere - if you create a battleline of 3 X 12 "average" spearmen, even if in range of a general , they do not become all siperior, as in battle, even in battle line , a general can only go to the front of only one BG, even in battle line unless I am mistaken

Correct, a general can only influence the unit he is with for impact/melee (and upgrade the unit for combat dice rerolls). However, for complex move tests, the general just needs to be in command range to add his influence (i.e. his +1 for general in range). Similarly, for cohestions tests where the unit isn't in melee (for example, from shooting hits) the general just needs to be in range to add the +1 for general in range.

However, a general in range doesn't make a unit an average unit superior. The gernal's "upgrade" effect ONLY applies to the unit if the general is in the front rank and the unit is in melee, and only for combat dice (so for cohesion test that unit still tests as if average).

I hope that makes sense.

Your english is fine and far better than my French. It is appreciated that overseas players post to this forum.
