No sound effects + change of language

Dear Forum members,

I have just recently installed FoG and stumbled across some minor issues:

1) There are no sound effects audible, although I can hear the in-game music. (I am using Windows 7, 64bit)

2) Is there a possibility to change the in-game language after installation?

Regarding the language take a look at this thread:

Select the Preferences menu and check the audio options.

Check your preference settings to get the sound effects going. It could be set to "off". I turned the music off ages ago.

Thanks for hinting me to the language thread. I had exactly the same problem and solved it by renaming the de.mo in de.mo.off.

I checked the preferences: The sound is turned on and the volume is up. But there are still no effects. However, when I shift the volume slider back and forth I get short glitches of sound.

Open the folder where you've installed the game. Now, locate and open the folder named "sounds". All the music is in mp3, but the sound effects are in two different formats, IFF and WAV. Check if you can hear the sound when playing both types (IFF and WAV).

Yes, I can play and hear every sound file in both formats.
