Noob is confused (spot the tautology)

Post by citizen6 »

Hi all
Just got Afrika Korp a couple of days ago - love it. Nord Afrika is probably my favourite theatre historically (was waiting for the Mac version but since it isn't coming decided to spring for VMWare so I could play it). However, I just finished Gazala - destroyed all the enemy assets but for 15 minefields and took all towns and objectives. And it gave me a loss and ended my career.....am I missing something? I thought the criteria for a major victory was capture all objectives and have less than 13 core enemy left. I haven't lost a battle yet (decisive every time) - yes I'm playing on an easier level until I get a feel for it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Did you miss the late-game Allied counterattack in the East? In my first playthrough I failed to notice the late-game advance and lost a couple critical VHs. I suggest you check the map before you proceed.

Yeah...found them and beat them. I literally had every city in German/Italian hands. There was nothing else except 15 minefields - I know this because I counted when the scenario didn't end after the map was empty just in case they may have been considered "core units" which would be a bit odd. No airfields, no fortifications, no planes, no ground units (I even sunk the destroyer out in the pond). I turned FOG off to check as I thought it was odd that the scenario didn't end. after everything was captured and there was no enemy activity between turns.

Have you updated your AK to the latest available patch, or is it still 1.10?
Did you load autosave games while playing this scenario?

Yes i was using the latest version "Wermacht" v.1.13 which I downloaded yesterday. My game was a partially completed saved one from yesterday (possibly started prior to updating - I can't recall the order of doing it) It was started yesterday from an autosave but manual save when starting today.

1.10 had an issue with victory conditions occasionally not working correctly after loading one of the autosaves. This was fixed in subsequent updates, but if you started the scenario before updating, you might have been hit by this issue.

I can suggest only two solutions:
- Restart the scenario under 1.13 and play it again, the problem should not repeat.
- Just use the "endscn 0" cheat code to give you victory which you have by all means deserved, and proceed with your campaign.
