Got a bit of a problem here: I'm playing the original Wehrmacht campain, but arriving in France I find the high difficulty makes the game less enjoyable for me (I like the game but I'm not a very skilled player). I don't mind replaying the campaign from the beginning, but here's my problem: I cannot remember which difficulty I chose at the beginning of the campaign. Is there any way to determine campaing difficulty in a game?
It seems that when i choose the Sergeant difficulty in a new game, all enemy units are at strength 5 (first level in Poland). This is not the case in my current game, so I guess I'm not playing at Sergeant difficulty.
Thankful for any help!

You're right about not playing Sergent. As for determining what the current level is, I don't think it can be done "in game". Someone with more knowledge than me will be by before long to help.
Re: How do I determine difficulty?
You can't, I had the same question once and there is no way to change or even get to know which difficulty level you picked during a campaign. You may only switch difficulty before starting the next DLC e.g.. It must be stored somewhere in the savegame, but it's not known how you can figure out the difficulty you are playing at atm.

Thank you for your answers. They were both very helpful!

Re: How do I determine difficulty?
This might actually be a good suggestion for a future patch? maybe show the current difficulty in the turn tooltip, turn screen or in the options menu during a campaign?
I'm sure more people have loaded an old savegame and wondered what difficulty level it was on. Might even be cool to show that as a tooltip for each file in the save/load dialog and easy enough to implement.

Re: How do I determine difficulty?
We have been asking for this since the early days of Panzercorps.
Hopefully one day they will include a small icon/heading showing the difficulty level on saved files as well as on the playing screen. However the developers also need to be able to link this retrospectively so that we can see the difficulty level on all our old files.
Re: How do I determine difficulty?
You can determine if you are playing with Lieutenant, as well: you get 50% more prestige for everything.
So capturing a normal (not Victory hex) city while playing on Lieutenant level should give you 75 prestige instead of the 50 prestige you recieve with higher levels. Maybe you can load a saved game and take over a normal city hex, see how much you get. If it is 75 prestige, you are playing on Lieutenant. The difference between Colonel and General is a better AI and 50% more prestige for the AI, which is hard to spot quickly.

Re: How do I determine difficulty?
You are right, it was requested before. The problem is, the game does not store difficulty level anywhere, instead it stores a number of different parameters which the difficulty level affects. This oversight in code design makes it more difficult to implement this feature now. But it is still possible to deduce the difficulty level by analyzing all game parameters together. In the next major update I plan to do just that.2010sjones2010 wrote:We have been asking for this since the early days of Panzercorps.Hopefully one day they will include a small icon/heading showing the difficulty level on saved files as well as on the playing screen. Re: How do I determine difficulty?
Well on the bright side, storing the parameters instead of the level leaves the door open for a more customized diffulty settings dialog later. Maybe do the info about the difficulty in a way that is also open for that later addition for 'custom' diffulty maybe?
