cavalry attachment and skirmishers

In our last game I had a few points to spare and had the option of attaching cavalry to units in my mixed divisions, so I attached a cavalry unit to my Grenzers. Now I know that if you skirmish you can't shoot any attached artillery, that was posted on the forums way back after early release I believe, but does the cavalry attachment still reduce enemy shooting at the skirmishing unit.
We played it that the attachment still functioned normally in skirmish but wanted to make sure, thanks.

1) You can't fire artillery attachment in skirmish order? I did not know that. Have to go find that.
2) I would think cavalry attachments still count, but I didn't know about above either.

See at the bottom: *Artillery attachments cannot add dice at medium range to the fire of a unit entirely in Skirmish formation.

cavalry attachments do count for skirmishers.

Good to know. Probably never mattered in our combination of troops and tactics.
