Problem with MP Mission Arnhem: Capture the Crossing

My friend and I started up a game of Capture the Crossing from Market-Garden module and here is what happened:

1. I set up the challenge so that I would be the Allies.

2. He accepted the challenge.

3. I did my first move as the Allies.

4. He went to do his move as the Germans but could not move anything.

5. When the turn came back to me I am now moving the Germans.

Ideas on what went wrong here?
