Think "Hoplite" when you think Offensive Spear.

Think "Peltast" when you think Light Spear.

They are differen troops.

Offensive spear are shock troops thus will charge without orders.

Spearmen are troops armed with spears whose effect is to fight in close formation (think Phalanx or shield wall) where the effectiveness of the spears is based on maintaining formation cohesion and a tight wall of spears and shields. This is true for even MF as well as HF spearmen, both Offensive and Defensive. Light Spears represent troops armed with spears, often shorter or lighter than those of spearmen, and who use the spears in a more individualist fashion, and may well throw them just before contact as well as thrusting with them. If the troops are ones willing to fight in melee, they will normally be classified as swordsmen as well to represent this and it can represent the presence of effective sdie arms such as swords and axes and a willingness and ability to use these effectively in a prolonged fight.

Light spear is only effective in Impact and has no effect on enemy swordman status.

Offensive spear counts in Impact and melle and negates enemy swordman status while steady.
