How much prestige does strat bombing remove?

Post by case23 »

The manual indicates that bombing a victory hex removes some prestige from the opponent, rather than having a chance to be neutralized. I'm hoping to get a bit more information how that works.

How much prestige does it remove? (I assume it's a range based on a randomly generated number; what's the range?)

Is it every time, or does it only happen sometimes (as with neutralization)?

Is there any way to tell that it's happened (if it's not every bombing run)?

Do unoccupied victory cities cause more or less prestige loss?

Is there any per turn cap (other than that it's not possible to bomb with more than two strat bombers per turn)?

Thanks very much!

It is not range based, prestige removed is equal to strategic bomber's efficiency divided by 2, and that, in turn, depends on bomber's strength and experience. The formula looks like this:

StrategicBomberEfficiency = (20 + 10*UnitStars) * UnitStrength / UnitMaxStrength

In bad visibility (weather is anything but clear) efficiency is halved.

This happens every time.

Yes, just open combat log after bombing (L hotkey).

Occupied cities take less loss. In this case two separate stages of bombing take place: carpet bombing the unit and then strategic bombing the city. After the first stage the bomber loses half of its efficiency.

No, there is no cap.
