Another 1805 question

Post by deadtorius »

Hi all
Another round at the Austrian 1805 list on page 107-108. Question regarding the definition of "Line Infantry" in the customized army rules of the list.
Does Line Infantry also cover Grenadiers or does it just refer to the "German" and Hungarian units?

Also can the first mixed division have 1 or 2 Grenadier units in it? There does not seem to be any restriction other than it has to have all the Grenzers and Grenzer attachments, or would having 2 grenadiers fall into the restriction of the Reserve Division mixed division.

Personally my take on it is that you "Line Infantry" refers to the German and Hungarian infantry units only, and that the only Grenadiers can be in the Reserve Division.

Just need some clarification thanks :?

Grenadiers are 'line infantry', therefore can be used in the first mixed division.

The left wing 'corps' at Caldiero had 2 regiments (8 battalions) of German 'line' infantry, 5 battalions of grenadiers and a regiment of Uhlans.

Thanks for clearing that one up.
It is the most restricting list I have seen for Austria so far. With all the minimums its hard to get much more into my army and the lack of command.... :? In our game I was tripping over myself I had so many units per division and had to keep Corps command close for extra rallies, although the Grenadiers proved to be tough troops to try and stop.
