15mm Napoleonic Manufacturers Directory

Post by madaxeman »

I've just finished pulling together a new Manufacturers Directory, covering the Napoleonic period, and the completed page in all its glory is now up and running on Madaxeman.com and accessible via the following link:

Madaxeman.com 15mm Napoleonic Manufacturers Directory

Each manufacturers individual listing has details of the nationalities they make, taken from the list of nations explicitly mentioned on their websites - these include French, British, Prussian, Russian, Austrian, Spanish, Polish (including Grand Duchy of Warsaw), Bavarian, other minor German states (The Rhine Confederation, Wurttenburg, Hannovarian, Hessian, Saxon, etc) Italian/Neapolitan, Dutch/Belgian, Portuguese, Swedish, Danish, and Turks. Many also have generic equipment and dead and wounded ranges too which are mentioned. Some of the manufacturers will have separate ranges for the two main era of Napoleonic warfare - which I understand to be broadly speaking Bicorne and Shako - and also Winter and Summer campaign dress but I haven't (yet..) gone into that level of detail I'm afraid, so this listing just shows which nationalities each company has a named range for

For each supplier there is also an indication of whether they are making "15mm" 15mm figures or "18mm" 15mm figures, how they package and sell the figures (singles, packs of 8 etc), details on how you can order from them and a link to their site.

Those of you who've seen the Ancients and Renaissance Directories will already be familiar with the 5-point click-to-vote system by which you can rate any of the manufacturers - some of the manufacturers are the same, but there is an entirely new set of ratings on the Madaxeman.com 15mm Napoleonic Manufacturers Directory as there seems to be different norms and standards in the Napoleonic gaming community - some of the biggest and most highly regarded Napoleonics manufacturers don't have equivalent Ancients or Renaissance ranges to benchmark against, and there also appears to be more of a preference for 18mm-sized figures as well - so pretty much all of the Napoleonic listings are starting afresh with a totally unique, Napoleonic set of votes to be built up. If you visit the page please do click to vote vote on those you have figures for as this may helps other gamers decide what to buy.

I'm not personally an expert on Napoleonic gaming or indeed the figures so I had some assistance from some of our club members who are - but if there are oddities in the way I have classified and categorized each manufacturers range, please let me know and I can correct them and update the Madaxeman.com 15mm Napoleonic Manufacturers Directory accordingly.

I hope this is useful to someone out there ... !
