Corvinus' Black Army

Post by helot2000 »

Here's my Later Hungarian army version 2 for FoG v2. I'm desperate to get them on the tabletop. All the Superior Szekler horsemen should be pretty effective, I think.

All Essex 15mm figures. Background and more pics up on my blog: http://twincitiesfieldofglory.blogspot.com/ Just click on Later Hungarian Army in the labels tab on the right and it will take you back through all of the posts.

Very nice. I love the shields. I was looking at something similar, but was going to do each base as a city state. I think your way looks better.

Thanks fellows! I really appreciate the feedback.

And Raven, it's a cointoss which way to go on shields. One way gives you a more uniform appearance. The other way lies madness! By the time I got to my 70th shield, I was done with Hungarian heraldry for the year. If you need resources for Hungarian heraldry, I posted links to a Hungarian and a Szeklery website in this series.

The last part of any painting project is to get the troops on the tabletop, crush my opponent and post an AAR.

Very nice. I especially like your camp with the excellent landscaping.

Scruff, that is brilliant! You have to do it, and if you could fit an elephant on there, it would off-the-charts cool! Make sure to post it if you do it. :D

Hi domblas, thanks for the kind words! The Khurasan figures I used depict them had a 2 handed lance, so no shields. My post also includes an artist's representation of the Rhoxolani here: http://twincitiesfieldofglory.blogspot. ... olani.html

One last tip, go to http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/ and enter the word "Sarmatian" in a search. Loads of good posts come up, including a shield color question! http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=79429

Good luck and good painting!
