Gendarmes and pursuit

Post by Vespasian28 »

Had a 1250 pt French Italian Wars vs Maximillian this afternoon and wanted to clarify a situation that came up.

Maximillians Italian Gendarmes rout the French's Italian Gendarmes but lose contact. They keep pursuing until they pass a CMT not too. Correct so far?

Now in the subsequent rout phases in the JAP are VMD used for either party?
Couldn't find a clear reference to it so we moved the routers normal speed but gave the pursuers a VMD(in fact we rolled a dice to come up with that solution!!) but would like to know the correct procedure.

Thanks.

The French won 13-20, so chalk up another win to my daughters lucky dice. This can't go on :D

Correct the Gendarmes continue to pursue after they have lost contact until they pass a CMT not to do so (p140, 2nd column, 1st bullet)

However, when broken troops are still being pursued, whether or not they are in contact with the pursuers, both the pursuers and the pursued continue to take VMD rolls - see page 140, 1st column, 3rd bullet. So you did get this wrong!

Thanks Don.

I knew there was something in the rules but as usual couldn't find it when I needed it.
