Re-basing?
My Wars of the Roses armies are based to the old 'Poleaxed'rules i.e one unit/contingent comprises one base of missile figures and one base of melee figures. The bases have an 80mm frontage. Have I blown it if I want to use FoG for my medieval battles?

You haven't said what scale:-) I'll assume 25mm.
The frontages are as for DBx, 40mm for 15mm, 60mm for 25mm. I'm not 100% sure on the depths, but IIRC heavy foot are based like DBM types, while medium foot are based on deeper bases (20mm for 15's, 30mm for 25's)
No doubt someone with rules to hand can give you exact measurements:-)
Sadly it looks like you will be rebasing in future:-(

For private gaming, you can use whatever size bases you wish, provided that both armies are based consistently. FoG comps appear to be predominantly for 15mm or 25mm figures, so you probably won't be fielding your 10mm figures in any FoG tournaments. In that case, you don't really have to rebase your armies unless you want to.

I'm making the conversion from DBM player to FOG player. I'm currently finishing up a horde of 15mm medieval peasants I had planned for a DBM French army. Unfortunatley my books are on order from Barnes and Noble, so I won't see the rules and army lists for another month+. Will DBM horde basing work for peasants in FOG?

They are MF under FoG, so correspond to DBx Bowmen base sizes. FoG does not use double bases as such, but troops do usually fight 2 bases deep, so all you will need is a few single bases to make change for losses. (Tip: I use my single based Bactrian Bw(O) archers - of which I have an excess - to make change for my Sparabara, which are all double based).mannmarke wrote:Will early Persians be OK on current DBx basings for BW(x) or will they become HI or MI under FOG?

I'm really interested in using 20mm figures. (For purposes of cost to historical accuracy ratio - that and I just bought an entire Flavian period Roman army for under $40 thinking that 1/72 was 25mm scale... silly me).hammy wrote:There are people who use 10mm figures on 15mm bases in 15mm competitions. Some of the 10mm armies look a lot better than most if not all the 15mm ones.
Would you recommend using 15mm or 25mm scale bases?

My 1/72nd plastics are based on 60mm frontages and with 4 to a heavy foot base, 3 or 4 to a medium foot as per the rules. They look fine, it's just that you can end up arguing against opponents claiming a POA for uphill when they fight against you with 28mm.
There are a few players in the UK using 1/72 for 25mm and it is not a problem.
